Parenting Newborns & Infants (0-1) Support Group
Feeding your infant and ensuring they are getting enough nutrition is one of the most important aspects of parenting during that first year. This community is dedicated to those who are nurturing a baby, whether breastfed or formula-fed.
At times like those, when my DD is driving me beyond batty, my partner seems like just another furusteration. I know he doesn't always intend to be, but it seems like every little thing he does he does to get on my nerves. I find it hard to be nice and then I feel even worse!
As for my first period...since I stopped BF at about three months I got mine before all the serious upsets came out of my LO. So that wasn't too bad. It was sort of hard getting used to it again though!
I think everyone feels a little overwhelmed sometimes. More then sometimes. I love my daughter to bits but she can really make me feel crazy. It helps to take a few breaths and remember your family. If I get really upset I take a few deep breaths and picture the three of us doing something happy and memorable. It usually calms me down enough to start the insanity climb all over again! But, I wouldn't change anything fundemental about my life right now!
I told mine that he needed to be cheerful and easygoing and if he wasn't feeling that way he damn well needed to fake it. I also told him I had enough whining around me from a preschooler and a newborn and he better not add to the quota by bitching about lost sleep.
Some days are better then others.
I think all mothers go through that faze of needing a moment and just conserving what energy you have. Be sure you take a minute for yourself! I know it's hard to find when you have pee with a kid on your lap sometimes. :)
But, before you go cursing me...I have twins (26 1/2 months old). My son was completely different than his sister. He had no teeth until he was 8 1/2 months old (6 months corrected), and by a year old still only had 3 teeth! He took a long time to get all of his teeth in, and got a fever every single time he got a new one. (And he drooled like a St.Bernard!) I would have preferred he got several at once, rather than dragging it out for the first 18 months! It really did seem like he never stopped cutting teeth between a year and 18 mths. old.
I didn't get my period until the twins were 16 months old (I breastfed my son until he was 21 1/2 mths. old). But I swear I still had the PMS every month, I just didn't get the period to go with it.
As for my husband, he drives me NUTS. I have no patience for him. I have been basically raising these kids on my own while he's either at work, or sleeping. There are days I want to smother him with his pillow. Many days. And don't get me started on his "needs"...I'll tell ya what he needs...he needs to eff off! For me, sleep is the new sex. At this point, I see it as just one more thing I need to do for someone else. (To top it off, I'm 7 months pregnant and in the process of moving!!!)
I do know how you feel about trying to conserve what sanity you have left. The good part is that when it runs out and you're officially crazy, you won't even notice because you're crazy. (LOL!)
Honestly though, it'll get better. It's going to take a bit for your body to regulate your hormones again, and that'll help a little bit. But you sound like a woman in dire need for a little time away. Maybe get someone to watch your daughter for a couple of hours while you just sit and read a book at a park. Or NAP. Even if you don't have anyone you're especially comfortable with taking care of her, pretty much anyone who has the ability to turn their head from left to right (to check for traffic), can be trusted to take baby for a walk in a stroller. Even a few minutes to pull yourself togeather can mean the difference between enjoying your life, and crying on the floor of your shower.
I don't know what your hubby is like, but if he's one who will help if you ask him to, ASK HIM TO. I have tried every way possible to get mine to help. He just won't. I have had to just learn how to cope with no breaks, and no help at all. One day at a time, is my motto. Sometimes it's one MINUTE at a time...and I recite the mommy mantra: "this too shall pass".
If you find that it's not getting better, or that it's getting worse, talk to your doctor. Maybe they can give you something just to get you over the hump.
Good luck StacyLynn!
I forget how old my older boys were when they started teething, my babies still haven't gotten any yet. I am hoping when they do it will be fairly easy. they have been really healthy good boys so far although we have battled a bad case of pink eye and last month we battled chicken pox!!! I couldn't believe it!!
I really wanted to breast feed and tried buy my mom was dying and the stress (she was living with us) was to much and my milk never came in. She passed away 3 weeks after I gave birth. I got my period right away and it seems to come every three weeks now instead of four.
To top it off my partner who is a wonderful man and father is addicted to pain meds and relapsed recently so I had to kick him out of the house because he is not safe taking care of babies when he is high. He is in denial again and lying about not taking them. It is so heartbreaking and very lonely to be parenting two babies by myself although I feel very blessed to have them.
