My twins have ALWAYS slept on there belly since they came home from the hospital but they were 11 weeks early and in the NICU for a month and a month and a half because they were in the NICU they slept a lot on there belly, so when I brought them home that is the only way that we could sleep now if either of them go on there back it wakes them up. It usually doesn't happen until 7:00 AM - 8:00 AM they have been sleeping for 11- 12 hours for over a month now but we do have BeBe Sounds Angel Care Movement Sensor With Sound Monitor. An alarm will sound alerting you to check your baby only if she becomes absolutely still for 20 seconds and no movement whatsoever is detected. The under-the-mattress Sensor Pad detects your baby's slightest movements. If your baby goes absolutely still for 20 seconds, the Sensor Pad sends a signal to the Nursery Unit which sounds an alarm alerting you to check your baby. If you are out of the baby's room, the portable Parents' Unit (Sound Monitor) will pick up the alarm as well as other nursery sounds. In addition, the Nursery Unit has an optional "tic" feature. If the Sensor Pad senses movement, the Nursery Unit will continuously tick. If it doesn't, the ticking will stop. If we did not have these I would have fought them to sleep on there backs but they are so much happier on ther backs. hope that helps

My pediatrician told me when the babies are able to roll onto their stomachs, it is okay to let them sleep there. With my first I would run in there and flip her over....but after the first night when I ran in there 3 times, that was enough. And babies do tend to sleep better on their tummies.

Don't worry, but ask your doctor to put your mind at ease.

My doc told me the same thing as Cath's...once their able to roll onto their tummy, its ok.

Yes, when they roll over, no need to wake up and put them on their back. Cath and Bella are right on.

From day 1 my son has slept on his stomach (he is 11 mos now). That was the only way he would stay asleep. If I laid him down on his back, his eyes would shoot right open. To this day he still sleeps on his stomach, sometimes his side. I always worried also and constantly checked on him, but I think that all mothers worry about their children's safety.

I would think that she'll be fine at this age because she's able to turn her head and won't suffocate. I'm glad she's sleeping better!

Thanks for all of the replies. I think somewhere in the back of my mind I knew it was okay at this stage...but that somewhere in the back of my mind was out to lunch when I found her sleeping on her tummy. I don't think that I would be apt to purchase any monitors that alert for movement or lack there of and such, as I know that I would drive myself completely crazy with it. I know me...and it would be a disaster.

I have to tell you, Lillie has ALWAYS slept on her tummy. It was the only way she was comfortable sleeping, the only way she would sleep through the night....I was concerned as well, but remember they only just begun to say put them on their back, all of US (my family) were told to put us on our tummy, and all of us did just fine. I was told as well, if they can turn over they are ok, the biggest issue was if the baby could not turn or hold their head up they could stay in the position where there face was in the the mattress and could not breath. I would not stress about it, Ellorie is older now and in control of her body....Enjoy the sleep you are both getting!

The doctors say that as long as they can turn over on their own and lift up their head, they can sleep however they want. I would keep toys and stuffed animals out of the crib until she starts picking them up and can easily move them on her own - my baby only sleeps on his tummy, started once he started rolling over and can only sleep that way.
