I think my 5 and a half month old daughter may have eczema. She does have an appointment to see her doctor, but she can't get in for another two weeks.
It started with her elbows...they were getting dry and patchy. Then it spread up and down the backs of her arms, and it is on her knees and the sides of her face, and her neck a little big.
She doesn't itch it.
We used to use Johnsons oatmeal lotion on her after her baths, but since all of this started, she screams when it touches the dry areas.
I just want something to try to make her life a little easier until her appointment. Like I said, she doesn't itch, but I have noticed her rubbing the side of her face on the carpet lately.
I was just wondering on anyones thoughts....maybe someone has some experiences they would share with me! I'm pretty willing to try anything!

Here in Australia, a man who had the world's worst recorded case of eczema, came up with a formula that really helps. It's called Calendulis Plus Cream. I use it on my niece, who suffers from eczema. It's a great product, but very expensive- $58 for a tube that lasts 3-4 months.
You have the right idea about applying cream/lotion right after a bath. That's a good way to make sure its absorbed into the skin.
If your daughter does turn out to have eczema, you might want to invest in arm sleeves, gloves/mittens, and thick socks. Infants and toddlers have a habit of tearing their skin up with their nails and it makes the eczema flare up even more.
For bath products, we use California Baby's super sensitive body wash and Calendula cream. They are semi-expensive, but not too bad at all. We have not had an eczema breakout since!
Also watch out for foods. My son gets a rash with citrus (he's now 15 months) and other highly acidic foods. He's also allergic to peanuts.
As Ciora said, it's a lot about trial and error.
for his baths i use the Johnson and Johnson on his hair and use Baby Aveeno bodywash on the rest of him. that seems to help. aveeno also has a calming lotion that you can apply as many times that it is needed. you can get the calming lotion at any drugstore.
Having a prescription though for major outbreaks is really handy. Sometimes outbreaks just continue to get worse because they don't have the chance to heal. Prescription creams help you get ahead of the ballgame. Its hard sometimes to keep infants from scratching and irritating the eczema further.
I know others have recommended Aveeno, but my son still flared up with their sensitive formula. I guess the moral here is it's all about trial and error and finding what works for your child. We spent so much money just to find something that did work for us, and now I have half bottles of stuff I can't use!
