Parenting Newborns & Infants (0-1) Support Group
Feeding your infant and ensuring they are getting enough nutrition is one of the most important aspects of parenting during that first year. This community is dedicated to those who are nurturing a baby, whether breastfed or formula-fed.
Wait a few months and try a small amount then. Most often than not, this is outgrown. When testing for allergies, keep an eye out for any swelling or extreme itchiness, particularly around the face- that is a sign of anaphylaxis; a severe allergic reaction. If that happens or your child is having trouble breathing or is wheezing, get to the ER asap.
My daughter had trouble with tomatoes. She still can only have them in small amounts.
Good luck! Glad it's just a rash and nothing too extreme (like lack of breathing!)
But now I'm worried to try her on anything else with a little more acidity. When should I try her on things like pineapple? Oranges? If the kiwi was what made her legs and back break out then would those have an effect too?
There is always something with this kiddo to keep me on my toes! We just got over her fourth ear infection in the past two months and now the rash!
Random thought....she is allergic to cefprozil, broke out in hives and had trouble breathing. So she keeps getting amoxocillan(sp) and has basically been on it for like two months straight. It doesn't seem to be the most effective medication. Could she get a rash from the meds being in her system so long? Seems like a stupid question, but I guess the best way to find out if I'm waaayyy off base is to ask.
Back to the rash... I don't think I'd hesitate to try different things, but that's just me. I might wait a few days until everything is out of her system but then I'd do a little at a time. I hope it works out for her!
My best suggestion is stay away from those foods and try them every couple of months.
