My nine month old no longer wants baby food- or any food from a spoon... even if I let her try from the spoon. She only wants solid finger foods.... BUT, she has NO teeth yet! I have given her toast, cheese, little pieces of green beans/apple (however those just sit in her mouth)... what do I do to get her to eat veggies/fruits?

My daughter loved avocado (still does), which is very soft. Even if you give her chunks to eat it will still be soft in her mouth. Will she eat yogurt? If so, YoBaby makes a great 3-in-1 meal yogurt, which has dairy, veggies and fruit. My daughter gave up baby food at 10 months, but she would still eat yogurt so I gave her the YoBaby stuff once a day. She also had teeth! -- there are some of those melt in their mouth puffs and stuff that have veggies and fruit in them as well. Also, veggie booty (pirate brand) is great! it's practically like puffs. Other than that, you might have to try Fruitables juice and other juices that have fruit/veggie servings in them. I still use Fruitables with my daughter when she's just not having any of the veggies.

Boil any veggie your little one will eat. My daughter stopped eating pureed food by about eight months, and she didn't get her first teeth until ten months. But she could eat any veggie I either boiled or steamed.

Have you tried a mesh feeder? They are great. My dd's can eat anything with it. I love it b/c they can get the great fiber from the skins of fruits and such as well.

My son abrubtly stopped taking spoon feedings at 11 months old, he would cry when he saw the spoon coming and if he did take a bite he would raspberry it back out in protest. We started giving him cottage cheese, pieces of toast, rinsed off and cut up glass jarred fruit, cut up soft fresh fruits, shredded cheese, soft cooked cut up veggies, and browned ground meat pieces. He liked the things that were easiest to pick up at first, like toast, but as his skill improved he started to like the other things too. Even babies with no teeth can mash bites of food with their gums, I've seen friends' babies eat finger foods with no teeth. Another idea I have heard about, but not tried is letting your baby have a cracker to dip into purees and lick them off it. I didn't think my son would be interested in that, I could see him just biting off big chunks of cracker instead of licking it.

Try mushy foods like avocado, banana, tofu cut in small cubes and then tossed with cheerio crumbs (to make them easier to grab). They should be mushy enough to gum.

My DS is the same way. I ended up buying a few bags of frozen veggies like peas, carrots, green beans, and broccoli. I just pour a little into a bowl with some water and heat it for a few minutes and then let the veggie sit in the water for even a little longer. It makes them pretty mushy but they can still be picked up and DS loves them. Even with no teeth he eats chicken cut into tiny pieces and various other meats. He pretty much eats what we eat now, just a bit overcooked. Good luck!!
