Children don't always speak up for themselves towards a teacher. Sometimes out of fear of being punished by a teacher or because they believe the teacher is always right. In my sons case...he has both fears. He truly believes his current teacher does not like him and could send him away if he doesn't behave.
Like I said, the teacher does get random phone calls and letters from me requesting that she explain what took place during a day. Most the time it is a misunderstanding. Other times I have reminded her to be more considerate and thoughtful before she speaks.
Last year we had an excellent teacher for 1st grade who was very interactive with us. We worked closely together to help educate my son and help groom him in social situations. And yes, once in a while we would her some questionable remarks being made but we were able to address them quickly and keep things on a happier note.
And we wonder who our children are learning some rudeness from.
Good luck in finding happy ground with your child's teacher.
Oh and yes, if there is something on your mind....PLEASE do keep an open line of communication with the teacher and principal as needed. They are not above being human and they do make mistakes too.
Hugs and happy holidays :)
Even though you don't like the teacher this is a great opportunity to show your son you can work with someone even if you don't like him. Just try to remember you are both on the same side-what's best for your son. It's even a great time to teach him that it's okay not to like everyone but you still should treat them with respect. Also, don't ever be afraid to ask questions especially when it comes to your kids.
I know my grand frustrates the teacher, and I can understand why. She is a strong-willed little girl. The teacher and I have open communications through notes and emails.
There are days my grand doesn't listen and there are consequences in the class--she'll have to sit out from a group activity if she's not cooperating, etc. I concur with the teacher most times and discuss making good choices with my grand so hopefully the next time, she won't have to miss any activities in class.
