Two years ago I went on a trip to Greece for school and I almost didn't get on the plane. My anxiety was so high I locked myself in the bathroom the night before and just wept. My friend was leaving for China the same day and she was over that night and just told me, "Mary, if you don't go you will always regret it. But whatever you decide I will be behind you". Both of those sentences had a big impact on me. She loves me and wanted no harm to come to me, and she knew me enough to say that it was just my mind being in a heightened state of fear.
I went.
I had an 8 hour panic attack on the plane and it was horrible.
times on the island and on the mainland were hard.
