I will try and be nice about this. Doc's the people that study, well most do about what they perscribe are careful to do this for a reason.

Why is that cause BENZO's are addictive as hell, I would be willing to bet that at least 30% of this section and anxiety are hooked on some type of benzo or another.


To call it a magic pill is so not true my friend. I have tried every benzo out there and have had no luck they just put me to sleep.

Their is no MAGIC pill, it is in our heads and that is where we must begin to accept that when we are in a situation of danger we have to face and accept that nothing is wrong in the situation.

If you need a benzo to do that, nothing wrong. But they are SHORT term drugs and should not be used longer than a month.

Not to sure where you are from but they hand out benzo's like candy here. Not only do I know 2 people personally that have OD'd on benzo's and other things.

But look to the news several stars have as well.

I know I can't speak for everyone cause they have worked wonders from some but to come here call it a magic pill and people run out and take a pill based off an uneducated post isn't really chill IMO.

Personally, I have been and I am addicted to benzo's right now.

Tried coming off withdraws were hell, blacked out had a siezure. So in a way it made my anxiety worse. Yes I came off quicker than most should.


But each person should research the medication they are taking and make an informed choice if the side affects out weigh the panic.


Also, just an FYI. Most hospitals and ER's use Ativan as a benzo to chill people out.


My point of this and why I rant so strongly. Looking for a magic pill for this illness is not the fix and never will be.

reply to cutter...benzos are def addictive if you are on them 3 times a day everyday...anything is....if u take advice at that consistency you can become addicted..I am on zoloft and yeh, I guess u could say I am addicted because I need to take one everyday...but its only a problem when you are craving the drug to get high..thats when the real problem arises

No dude please go read about them. HIGHLY adictive means exactly that. I am not knocking them, I was just saying they need to be used with caution.

Their is NO MAGIC PILL that was all I was saying. Giving people false hope that have anxiety and panic is one of the the worst things you could do.

As far as the medication you are on, you are not addicted it is required to be taken everyday. They are not a benzo but an SRRI. The benzo in most places is meant to be given to you while the srri takes the month to month and half to work.

Sorry guys I hope to not come across as a dick. But their is no magic pill and people need to know that.

what an interesting idea to think that there are people that "enjoy their panic attacks and look forward to having them". it is not the enjoyment of panic attacks that people have, its the fear of taking medication. i am fearful of taking meds and i believe that there are alot of people that are like me. people want to overcome anxiety and panic without meds and return to the people that they were before. it is hard for me to imagine that i may be on medication the rest of my life, and one that is addictive scares me even more. when i first had a panic attack and went to the ER, i got Ativan in my IV. it took away the anxiety, but it didn't make me feel like me. when i was discharged from the hospital they sent me home with 5 Ativan to take. i asked why only five? the Dr. told me it was highly addictive. so if there is a miracle drug out there, i haven't found it. the closest thing that i have come to feeling normal has been thru yoga and relaxation breathing.

I totaly agree with JuliaDS who want to be hooked and dependant on some drug. I mean it fixes the attacks but what is it doing to your body overtime?????

Jc ur right god damnit and your not an ass trust me people! all drugs do is mask your problems they dont fix shit i hate doctors and the FDA cause its money money for them guess what in the middle age did they have special drugs? hell no they just dealt with cause that just how it should be these disorders we get mentally can be managed without a single pill all you need is a good therapist and great support and lots of sunshine well lest i love my sunshine heh well anyways drugs arent worth it and your mind and body is capable of dealing with most of the problem you suffer in life heck it was built to defend itself .. ONE MORE TIME i hate drugs and FDA forgive me for my bluntness but ive been drug-free for a month and i dont feel much better than when i was drugged and sorry harry but please dont refer a sleeping aid such as valium as a magic pill for us who suffer it gives false hope and major addiction maybe even worse addiction than nicotine .. Wow - it would seem that like the rest of the people responding to this post, I am pretty offended by Harry's remarks. Especially about wondering if many of us just WANT to suffer with this horrible affliction. Not everyone is willing or able to slap a valium bandaid on their disorder, for various reasons, most of which have been addressed by the others in this discussion. Personally, I'll opt for working on cognitive therapy and getting to the root of the problem, and stay away from the drugs. So far, it's working well for me, and I've only been at it a little while. Are you hooked on a magic pill Harry?

SORRY HARRY !!!!!!!!! i agree with the rest of the gang on here so far, JCUT nailed it very well with what he said. Anything that you need that often is not a good thing, I myself take ATIVAN , 0.5 milligrams AS NEEDED a bottle of 30 last me over three months, these little guys are ADDICTIVE AS HELL, I know that , my DOC knows that , and everyone else should too. I just take them whenn i feel one coming on and it stops them. We can reply on what the docs give us OR we can find the inner strength to STOP them on our own. I hope everyone can one day just STOP and walk away from the doctors and the companys that pay them and actually get our lives back..... PEACE BE YOUR GUIDE!

I know of 2 psychiatrists who specialise in panic disorder and both use benzos as first choice, one adds an antidepressant the other doesnt

both agree that anxiety sufferers seldom have addictive type personalities and that benzos if sensibly prescribed and taken are safe and not addictive

much hysteria was promoted by antibenzo groups as their religion and sadly some docs have adopted it

what seems to be a siezure on quitting may actually be a panic attack

the adrenalis rush from a panic attack is the same from dangerous sports, parachuting, etc, so I suspect some panic disorder sufferers came to enjoy them and dont want them stopped, hence refusing benzos

some people never give up.
