doctors opinions and advice differ a lot on whether these meds should continue during pregnancy but this often now does happen and several studies show no harm to mother or baby although the babies seem to go thru a withdrawl type process after birth.lots of info on the net
some docs dont bother to keep up to date so if your doc says no and you want to continue on an AD you may need to find another doc who doesnt mind
a pregnancy for an anxiety sufferer who is having frequent panic attacks can be hard to cope with......
sometimes all panic attacks and anxiety stop when pregnant, its not known why and cant be predicted who this will happen for, was thought to be due to hormonal changes but not now

I agree. I'm currently 16 weeks pregnant and have continued my prozac throughout and haven't had any problems. I did some research on the internet before making my decision. I think continuing the med. is helping me to have a more positive outlook on this pregnancy, as I usually hate being pregnant. I love my children and love babies, but hate what I have to go through to get them! I plan to continue the prozac throughout the rest of the pregnancy and as long as I breastfeed. Thank you for this post. Good luck to everyone.

Very true! I have been so scared to get pregnant, but my doc said a lot of women lose the panic/anxiety during pregnancy and it remains gone! I don't know, I hope it's true, but I still don't think I'm that brave.

I was on zoloft. It actually helped...for the first time in a long time. I felt great. It all went away. Then I had my beautiful son and all hell broke loose. Maybe it is all the hormones..thats what they tell me anyways

i can relate when found out that i was pregnant with my son i had just started taking meds(which was a bug deal for me because i dont trust them) and was actually starting to feel better i decided to quit taking them during my pregnancy.and let me tell you my anxiety didnt get any better but it wasnt really any worse.i think that it is really rough during pregnancy because the what if thinking is so much greater there is more that you can worry about.personaly i think that you need to do tons of research and talk to alot of different docs to make the best choice you can.because there are some drugs that are not safe to take like i was on lexapro and they said at the time they didnt have any studies thst suggsested their was any harm done to the baby(that didnt reasure me) and i was also on atenolol and it wasnt safe and neither was xanax if i remember correctly.so just do the research and make what ever dec you feel is best for you and your baby.also do keep yourself in mind to because you dont want to stressed threw you pregnancy either.good luck and i hope things are going good for you.take care

I dont know what to say to this because I started having panic attacks after I had my son!! I have never had more children because of the meds. If something happen to my child I would never forgive myself but everyone is different!! The best thing is just talking to your doctor!! Good luck and prayers!!
