I do think you took the dog in to soon. You didn't give yourself enough time to heal.
But..... The pups there.
Two things to remember. DON'T spoil the dog. A spoiled dog is like a spoiled kid..... a BRAT!
2nd, DON'T compare it to your last dog. This one has his/her own personality. You need to teach and mold the dogs personality to your way of life.
Spending time with it is important and necessary. But it needs to know you can't be with it all the time.
A wild dog, cat or what have you learns quickly to be quiet when its mother is out hunting. If its noisy, its someone else's meal.
Walking away, then turning around and pointing at it and saying, NO. Can be a help. My animals all know, if I make the snake sound,..... WATCH OUT! It can mean a number of things, quiet, be careful and watch for.... whatever.
Your the teacher, mother, friend. Everything will depend in you.
Good luck!
I believe I'm having a hard time because this is my first time raising a dog on my own. My last dog, she was more of a family dog that we all kinda raised. Both my brothers moved out and my mother isn't the biggest dog person.
Again, thank you so much for the advice!
