It can be hard, but have to talk yourself down. In meetings realize you are not trapped. Though it will consume time, you are free to leave.
Sometimes we can have attacks about upcoming events that we are unaware of. I use to get physically ill before upcoming social events. I start missing out on family get togethers, because every single time I was sick. whether a cold, or upset stomach, I finally started putting it together and realized my body was making itself sick in order to avoid these social situations.
Your mind is very powerful. It will do many things without you even being aware you are doing it. This is why I suggest a therapist, maybe talking to a professional can help you find out what is triggering the panic, and then you can gain more control over them.
