I have relapsed but I am working on getting better. We can both do it!
Eventually my panic attacks led to me becoming agoraphobic.
If I can not pull myself out of a panic attack, I will still go to the ER to get checked. I am old now, and heart disease runs in the family so for me, it can be hard to tell the difference sometimes. When I go to the ER I tell them, I have panic attacks and need to tell whether this a real heart attack/ stroke or just my panic. The docs are more than happy to help,
How long have you been having panic attacks and are you getting help for them? Its useless for me to try an explain a panic attack to anyone. Even my husband still doesn't understand, but he does still help. I call him my buffer. I don't go outside without him. He knows if I tell him I am having an attack to get me to a more comfortable place and will try to distract me, make me laugh and help me calm down. I also use him for my own exposure therapy. If there is a new store in town and I want to be able to go, I will take him with me, for the first couple of visits until I feel ok going on my own. However, when the stores decide to change everything around and move things, that can send me into a panic.
I have lived longer with panic than without it. I have come to accept it and trying to learn ways of coping with it.
You are DEFINITELY NOT ALONE! :) :) :)
I have suffered on and off for years.. Just recently, due to a LOT of stress, I have started having attacks again. I have had more nocturnal ones but these have improved. I probably need to restart my meds, which I have been without for 3 years..
CBT is the best! I had it years ago, and if you can get it, please do! The shortness of breath and feeling of impending doom are the worst for me! It really is scary! Thank God for Daily Strength and the ability to share these feelings with those who know these symptoms first hand! Hope that this helps, and the anxiety apps that you can put on your phone! They have helped me ALOT!
Keep the faith!
