Yes this is very common. I hate that feeling and deal with better at some times than others.
My husband came in and was asking me questions like, "What's wrong?". I heard him but couldn't answer because it was like I wasn't there and the only thing that would come out was the moaning and screaming.
Very scary, but glad to know I'm not the only one who gets that feeling!
