its a tranquilliser of a different type to valium, needs to be taken daily for about 10 days before it starts to work, so cant be taken as needed
although heavily promoted and advertised to docs, has a very poor reputation in the anxiety community
several psychs who specialise in anxiety and panic attacks say its almost useless, one says its an overpriced sugar pill, in other words, placebo effect only
may perhaps sometimes make an antidepressant work better though
often promoted as the non addictive alternative to valium, but nowhere near as good as valium
and most of us are much too sensible to allow ourselves to become addicted to any valium type meds as they are so helpful
any doc who insists on buspar listens more to the drug company sales reps than to his patients

I was given BuSpar, but my doc actually said it probably wouldn't work for me. It did, but I think it was because it 'tweaked' my Zoloft. As an overall substitute for Valium or other benzodiazepines, I have to agree with you for sure. I don't feel this could take their place. You do have to be careful when taking this medication if you like grapefruit or grapefruit juice - severe gastrointestinal upset will occur, trust me! Ugh!

I took this. But my doc said that it would counteract the sexual side effects of the zoloft. Did not work for me. Made me a zombie. Went off of it after 2 months of sleeping constantly.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
