Just thought I would mention a few things that might help. I thought I had pancreatitis but now I believe it's my liver but had to rule out the pancreas as a problem before coming to this conclusion.
I had an Endoscopic Pancreatic Function Test with Secretin done early this month to rule out Pancreas Function. It was normal. This was done at Stanford University in California. Most University settings do this test.
Have you had an EUS yet?
I also have Parasite/Protozoan, Blastocystis Hominis, that was found in a stool specimen performed by Genova Diagnostics. It's a special lab that is known for finding these bad bugs.
Many times from what I've read (you can go to www.badbugs.com) when you have a parasite the symptoms are like IBS. So when the doctor's tell you it's IBS many times the patient has a parasite. Just something to think about!
As for the fatty stools, maybe the sphincter of oddi maybe malfunctioning or the liver might be involved. Do you still have your Gall Bladder? I'm just throwing some things out there as I'm not a doctor but have gone through extensive testing to figure out why I'm very sick.

hi thanks for the reply - yes i still have my gallbladder. I have also been tested for parasites about 10 different times- I wish I could say I have a parasite. My left rib cage is often sore , especially after eating and this has been going on for 3 years and I've had steatorhea for a year now. Like I say ct and mri all looked normal. The only test that came back was the 72 hr fecal fat test that showed I am malabsorbing. The doctors keep saying I have IBS. I wish I could find a doctor who could run some pancreatic tests . In Ontario there is only one hospital that preforms eus- and it's almost impossible to get in.

I was diagnosed with idiopathic chronic pancreatitis about ten years ago. I am in intense pain everyday, but like you all the test come up normal. I am hospitalized about every three months or so. I have had doctors tell me it is all in my head before too. try changing your diet to a non-low fat diet and take oral enzymes when you eat. I take pancreaze, and it seems to help with the malabsorbtion. All I can say is you arent alone, and you need to be your biggest advocate for your self. I am here if you need me :-)

I am new on the site and reading through each of your posts and wondering where you are at with your diagnosis?

My husband has pancreatitis. He’s 82 years old and we’ve just been not this is just been diagnosed. He seems to sleep all the time maybe 20 hours a day if possible he has constant pain won’t and he won’t eat his last huge muscle weighs like 50 pounds him we didn’t have a liver problem with the flow from the liver is now gone. I don’t know what to do with him or how to help him every time I try to feed him something I hear I can’t eat that I’m not hungry I can’t swallow
