hello all...I am new here. I am 31 and it is possible I have chronic pancreatitis. I have sphincter of oddi dysfunction. 4 years ago I had an ercp done and they cut my pancreatic sphincter because it was too tight. Had a very mild case of pancreatitis from it but doc said that it would not come back because it was only post ercp and was mild. I was to maintain their diet for a couple of weeks and than go on eating and drinking as I normally would. Since than I have had my second child and I normally eat healthy and drink occasionly. My husband and I take turns having a night out. However, I haven't touched anything since feeling ill. Recently everything came back with a vengence and I have had blood tests done a few times and they have found nothing. Just did an mrcp and was nervous because the tech wouldn't really look at me when it was done. I'm afraid my sphincter of oddi and the ercp may have ended up giving me chronic pancreatitis. I have lived pain free for 4 years and have a 7 year old and a little girl that's about to turn 2. Any support and help would be greatly appreciated! When they cut the Spincter of Odi muschle it is my understanding that scar tissue can sometimes form and the procedure needs done again. So maybe you will just need another ERCP to address this again.

it would be nice if that was it. I will hope it is only that but I fear it is chronic pancreatitis. I just feel a lot worse unfortunately. I have been waiting all night for my mrcp results and of course nobody called. I called the office at 1 and it is now almost 6. I guess I'll be waiting tomorrow!

I'm sorry they didn't call you back. It sure is hard waiting. I had two ERCP's and after the 2nd one, I still didn't feel better and couldn't eat. I have SOD and CP. My doctor put me on TPN to rest the digestive system. I'm doing a lot better.

Either way, there is hope for you. I have a 5 year old and a 5 month old, so I know how hard it is. Fortunately, I have a great wife that is very supportive.

thank you...it makes me feel better when others are in the same boat and seem to be doing well. Hopefully I will get a call today. I had an minor attack last night next to my left shoulder blade. It hurt to take a deep breath. Unfortunately sphincter of oddi and pancreatits have a lot of the same symptoms. You guys have been wonderful in helping me get through this.

It took a week for them to give me my results, I was assuming, no news is good news, NOT...I have mild chronic pancreatitis and they have put me on Creon. Which is seeming to help, thank goodness. I had several scans/test to finally come to the conclusion of what my issue was...I had an MRI with hormone injections (secretin) the meds make your pancreas react like it just ate, they found mild irreculatities, but nothing that can be repaired :( But I am trying to stay positive...Ive had 4 attacks in a year and 1/2 and the one I had in June, I was hospitalized for 8 days and 4 in ICU, I almost dies from this :( I have 2 children 9 and 3, so I understand what you are going thru, its touch and draining in all aspects. I've even been fighting depression, last week was rough but this week I feel pretty good. Keep us posted and hope you are feeling better soon. Oh, I had to go to a pancreatic specialist, the GI dr's were NO help to me whatsoever!
