Well not much new to post. I am still feeling very good and so glad I had this surgery. Everything I eat settles well as long as I eat small meals. That is the key. I went to the fair and ate some funnel cake. I went to Cheddars and had a Monte Cristo. Now mind you, most of the time, I eat very healthy, especially since I have the diabetes to deal with. I am just glad I can live a little without fear of dying from pancratitis. I am trying to get more exercise in. It is hard with a busy schedule. This weekend, I went non stop, cleaning, mopping dusting and gardening. Then got groceries and had friends over for dinner. I have not been able to work that hard in the last four years. I was tired like a normal person, but not in pain and wiped out like when I had my pancreas.

I am on 5 units of Lantus a day and I take 1 unit of Insulin for every 20 carbs I eat in addition to taking 1 unit of insulin if my sugar is 150-200, 2 units for 200-250 and so forth. I get a lot of low sugars. 39 was the lowest. That was after I ate a klondike with no insulin. So I thing every once in while my islet cells kick into over drive.

Does anyone else who had the TPIAT have trouble with lows as well as elevated sugar?

I still have what I call a bad digestion day sometimes where it seems all my food goes through me sideways. I know my digestive is very sensitive and will get out of whack easily for the rest of my life. I try to be careful about my diet to keep it in check. I take probiotics and I have to take stool softeners to keep everything moving.

So no I am not perfect, but what I deal with now is a piece of cake compared to when I had my pancreas.
