I feel wonderful this was the best thing I ever done. That gnawing pain in my middle is gone. I eat whatever I want. I am back to normal activity, endurance and exercise. I have gained about 6lbs back that I lost with surgery. I would say 90% of the surgery pain and achiness is gone. For quite a while I would wake up in the morning very achy and most of that has gone away and I am sleeping better. I am still tender if you press on the surgery site, our puppy jumps on me every once and a while if I am not watching and that still smarts. My digestion goes awry easily if I am not paying attention. Small meals, and I try to eat healthy, whole foods. Not processed stuff with preservatives. I try to get a lot of protein in too. I do crave my cheesecake though! I do have a tender spot on my upper right that I am pretty sure is in the bowel. But that only bothers me if my digestion system is not moving well. I have had two instances where I am almost positive I had a bile duct obstruction. One lasted a few days and ended in excruciating pain that I thought I was going to have to go to the ER for, then it let up and went away. The other was bad pain for about two hours then subsided. I worry that sooner or later I will get a blockage that does not resolve but I try to keep those thoughts in the back of my mind and focus on the present. Then I tell myself that I have done so well so far that hopefully I will never have the issues a lot of people who have had this surgery deal with. With that I have to say I feel so blessed to have done this well and think often of those who have not and keep them in my thoughts and prayers for better days to come their way. Lastly, I am still on insulin. I take 6 units of Lantus every night and probably 1 to 2 units of Novulog with most meals.
