I am diagnosed with Chronic Pancreatitis. Next week I am going in for an ERCP. Can anyone tell me what I am to expect please?
Long story short, my ERCP was super quick even though my GI thought it was going to be a painful recovery. I was out the next day.
I've been sick for well over a year, and the sludge/stones/ick that came out when my GI did that procedure has me feeling great for the first time in a while.
I suggest it as a last resort if you're worried about it, as that's what it was for me. But I feel great one week later.
Good luck with whatever you choose.
I have pancreatic insufficiency of unknown cause, and as a result of that had vitamin deficiencies. I'm on creon, and as much as that helps me, it did not change my vitamin deficiency. I wondered if my extreme fatigue could be caused by that.
On my own, I searched for a vitamin patch and found a multivitamin patch with essential vitamins and minerals. This has made a huge difference for me, and blood tests recently confirmed my deficiency is gone also! It helped my energy level some. Not a complete fix, but a step in the right direction. It seems taking vitamins orally don't work for me with this condition. Sending them through the skin did.
Next would be hydration. This is one that you don't really think about. The blood carries nutrients and oxygen around the body. If you are dehydrated, your blood-flow may be a bit sluggish and therefor you might be a bit sluggish.
Finally, I think ensure is a great idea. I used to just drink protein shakes, but I then realized that there is a lot more than protein that your body needs to heal.
As for the BM's, if you can tolerate it, the B.R.A.T. diet is a simple win. B.R.A.T.= Bananas, Applesauce, Rice and Toast.
