I had an ERCP not quite 2 weeks ago with pancreatic and biliary sphincterectomy and stent placement and for the last two days I have had this very strange sensation. I get nauseated, adn it literally feels like my stomach is spasming or trying to turn itself inside out. During the sensation, its like a pressure that makes it hard to breath while its happing. It lasts a few seconds, then passes. I have a few of these happen every hour. I do seem to be experiencing more pain along with this...but this is a new feeling for me...anyone else ever felt this?

My first symptoms other than being nauseated was just as you have described. I did not have an ercp, I just had those pains and pressure and trouble with breathing before I was diagnosed. I explained it to many people including doctors and other sufferers of pancreas related issues and no one could relate. I have no idea what has caused mine, but it is for sure annoying. Better than a full blown attack I guess though.

After my ERCP with sphincterotomy, I had spasms much like you described. They came out of nowhere and scared the day lights out of me. It was like my insides were completely turning inside out. They weren't all that painful though. I still do get spasms more than a yea later, but much milder. My GI said it is normal. It would be worth mentioning to your dr.

Thanks so much for the responses. I am glad someone knows what's probably going on. What a crazy sensation! It tends to happen when I am talking with someone, so I think maybe my diaphragnm contracting spurs something on. Its more annoying than anything, because I will be in mid conversation, and suddenly I can't really talk...sort of like a heart palpatation....you just cease to be able to draw a breath....I will definitely bring it up to my doc when I see him next

Used to get them a lot more before my ERCR with sphincterotomy, but since then it has gotten better after a couple years.

Mine was caused Hemochromatosis, that they didn't find in time, & it caused a septic gallbladder which they say caused my CP.

Hi all,
I see this is an old thread,but it is the ONLY thing I could find that exactly explains what I am feeling after 2 ERCP procedures, I would love to know if any of you have found out the cause of these spasms and if and/or how long they took to resolve. What is any remedies were offered by your doctors? Hope you are all doing well!
