where was the pain?

I didn't have any stomach gurgling. I actually had bowel motions during all attacks that I have had.

Howdy Sesser. My stomach sounds like there is a war going on in there. Also listen to your bowel sounds with a stethoscope. If you don't have on, they can be had a Wal-Mart, cvs, rite aid, etc... Even when I have no attacks my stomach is very noisy but with attacks, my stomach sounds like a war zone.
Next time, If you can't drive to the ER, pick up the phone and dial 911. They can take you to the hospital. Good luck and God Bless. Chris...

Thanks guys! Is it feasible for an attack to hit and die down 4 hrs later to then be totally normal in the am?

From my recollection it felt like I was being punch in the gut repeatedly. VERY different from my current pain which is an upper left squeezing/stabbing pain.

Its interesting that sources on the internet read that typically in an AA there is zero sound-this disease is just so different for everyone, makes it much more tricky

do you mean lower tummy pain ?

do you have a gall bladder. gall bladder attacks usually pass by the morning.

Yes, an acute attack can go away after a few hours. It can also come back later while you are sleeping and nail you. Or it can wait a few days and come back. You never know. karen

Sunshine, yes I have my gallbladder. I was thinking maybe a gbladder attack too as from what I understand it would be highly unusual to have an acute attack that just lasts a few hours to be totally normal in the morning-able to eat anything, no issues etc. I also had a loud gurgling in my throat which was likely acid hence I thought it was an odd gerd attack, but theres just no way- I literally thought I was going to die. I never even considered my pancreas at the time as I didnt even know what the heck the pancreas was!

you didn't say exactly where the pain was. but it could be gall stones related and that can include pancreas attack as well.
and gb attacks to pass rather quickly.

they think my pancreas attacks are related to gall stones in the bile duct. the pain went down rather quickly with medication.
but I was very unwell for a long time after
my first attack took ages to get under control

my stools were clay coloured during an acute attack.

with gb attacks. I was fine the next day.

but you refer to being punched .. I assume you mean lower stomach ?

The pain during this particular episode years ago was above the belly button-the gut, like I was being punched. The pain I now associate w my pancreas is about 2/2.5 fingers left below the bottom of the breast plate-this is a squeezing/stabbing pain that comes and goes. Sometimes I just get 2/3 jabs a day.

above belly button isn't pancreatitis or gall bladder
but under the breast in centre is where my pain is
it is more like heart attack. u cant breath normally it is so painful
and spreads to back.
gall bladder pain is same. but not as bad.

they thought I was having a heart attack when I went to hospital.
but I knew I wasn't.


do u have antacids to take ? Mylanta.
or anti spasm stuff. ie. buscopan here.
do u know if there is a trigger to your attacks? ie food. etc?
have u been for a blood test .. spoken to your doctor.
cos after I had my AA. I then went on to have lower right hand pain they said this is referred pain. it was lower. but the nausea was really bad. and this was constant and went on for months. I think I am just getting over it now.

have u ever had a endoscope. gastroscope. u.sound ?

During the first bout of pain that I attributed to my pancreas (upper left) I had labs drawn a wk after and lipase was double. Ever since my lipase is always 8 to 15 pts above average-even when Im not in a lot of pain. Ive had MANY EUS, no changes. Ive tried levisin once for spasms in case it was something else, didnt help. Alcohol definitely seems to start the pain going though for yrs it really didn't. Since I believe its my pancreas now, I stay away from alcohol. I can eat really whatever I want as long as Im not in a painful episode. These episodes of pain can last months now.

Before my pancreas pains, I used to have shooting pain around my heart which was dxd as GERD. Id also get the pain where you cant breathe in all the way, like when you have a gas bubble in your chest. My acid was so bad I took aciphex daily. Years later is when the panc pain started---I believe the acid was actually my pancreas the whole time.

Im going to ask my dr for a camera capsule test next....So far, they think it could be mild recurrent pancreas attacks-yet Im not sure how that would explain pain that goes on for months. Im happy no major damage thus far.

I had the capsule study done and it really is a good way to look at the entire digestive tract. It gets everything in between that an endoscopy and colonoscopy can't reach. Best part is, you don't feel a thing! Please keep us posted. I know this is no fun :(

The day before my first attack, I had a large amount of noise. I ended up taking anti-gas medicine. It didn't help. The next day I was admitted to the hospital. I was there for almost two weeks.

I don't know about the stomach sounds relating to a attack when I first got this I had attacks constantly and ive vomited up food that I had eaten 16 hours earlier and they were watermelon slices so if u cant digest that u cant digest nothing
