History Unnecessary hysterectomy in 2006 (doc should have only removed a cyst or one ovary). I almost immediately developed severe diarrhea and it continued to some degree for 9 months or so. Frequency gradually abated and have just had loose bowels since. Fast forward to June 2010 when I asked PCP for a stool test. One time test showed abnormal fecal fat (steatorrhea) and serum vitamin A was 19 (range = 19 - 83).

I have NO other gastro symptoms although Ive had hair loss and dry and aging skin which happened quickly post-hyst but I think thats more hormonal (even though Im on HRT).

Due to the position of the pancreas and intestines and the anatomical effects of hysterectomy (settling of intestines), I thought this would more likely be an intestinal problem than a pancreas problem. But my GI doc keeps focusing on pancreas and even had the gall to say this was not caused by my surgery! Huh??

Ive had the following tests:
- Celiac testing Two blood tests (3 years apart) and endoscopy
- Stool test for parasites (run by PCP) negative
- Stool test for good and bad bacteria (run by integrative doctor) normal results
- Ultrasound of pancreas, liver, bile ducts, aorta. Images were very clear and all looked good.

GI doc now wants to schedule:
- EUS with another doctor not sure I want to do this and rating of one doctor says he botched an ERCP which I know is more difficult than EUS but this is freaking me out especially since Im not in any pain. Also, what more will this show that the abdominal US didnt?
- Small bowel follow through what will this show? When I asked about adhesions or blind loop type abnormalities, he said these wouldnt be the cause. So what would be the point of this test??

Any suggestions for how to / not to proceed? Other tests?
