So I met with a pain doctor and he gave me two choices: a neuromodulator (goes into your spinal cord and remind me of being a BORG from Star Trek!) or a pain pump (which looks like a hockey puck).

At first, I felt cautious hope but I see him Wed and now I'm scared. I read up on both procedures and would love feedback on them. Especially and pro/con: as in they say I could be paralyzed or DIE!!! Yikes. If you have feedback, let me know, ok?

I know having my j tube put in was a major operation a 6 inch incision the doctor told me he had to cut twice the size that he thought he would because of the scar tissue I have from the 2 previous operations so good luck what ever u decide I know nothing about either procedure prayers to u

Hey girl, I answered your e-mail and gave you the long version, so will give everyone else the short version, lol. The hockey puck really isn't a difficult procedure and they usually do a test run on ya in the hospital(monitoring)to see if you respond well to it because some folks don't strangely enough. The pump is implanted inside a hollowed out area(fat removal)and tacked to the abdominal muscle so it won't go migrating on ya and the catheter is placed using a portable x-ray machine(low dose)and you stay in hospital over night to make sure your ok and the pump is helping as it should, then your back home the next day. If anyone has questions I will be happy to answer them, Be well and pain free.

my gf has a pump inserted into her body. for RSD/ or CRPS she is fine - have to get it changed every now and then
she also has stays in hospital for pain relief
