My wife had a genetic blood test for CF which also tests for some mutations. Does anyone known the exact mutation gene that is looked for? And is that different from a CF gene test with mutations? The original came back negative.

for pancreatitis problems they look for mutations in the following genes:
CFTR, PRSS1, SPINK1
my son is a CARRIER ONLY of a mutation in the CFTR gene (cystic fibrosis)...each mutation is identified by a number.
also he has a mutation of the SPINK1 gene, which can cause pancreatitis symptoms
He has no mutations of the PRSS1 gene....
He has "annular pancreatitis" (pancreas growing around duodenum and squeezing it.....he has had 2 major surgeries to bypass this area, and continues to have pancreas pain, although not as bad as before....this is due to his mutation I believe, and so does the surgeon.
