What are the minor criteria, I have so many problems understanding the diagnosis of CP, if docs say not CP can they give you any explanation for your symptoms?

Minor criteria based on Rosemont clasifications:
I try to translate it to English:


1. Small lines of stronger echo
2. there is an noecho change in tail 2,8mm - small dilatation of side branch?

I've been battling for not very long (last fall) but can appreciate your pain and suffering. Everything inside me 'looks' normal too but I am certainly going down hill fast and although I am sure people 'want' to help me, no one has/will. My symptoms definitevely have been getting worse daily for the last 4 months.

I'm also at a loss on what to say to my doctor. He like so many others are people of science and only make a diagnosis when there is clear clinical evidence and in both of our cases, there is not.

I'm so sick I figure a polaroid should show them what is wrong, never mind an eus/mrcp/ct.

It seems to me that they should be able to look at our stool and see that food is not digested properly or that there are high levels of fat or that our digestion is clearly not working.

If you find something to show to your doctor, let me know :-). Until then keep your head up and battle.

Hi Szyman- I am kind of in the same boat... I have no diagnosis (yet). Ive had an MRCP w/secretin, EUS, fecal elastase of >500, RUQ ultrasound but have a high fecal fat (9g)...

Do you suffer from fat maldigestion (ever had a fecal fat tested?) If so, what did they say about that.. they keep telling me I have IBS and I'm like UMM IBS DOES NOT CAUSE FAT MALABSORPTION!!

Mine had dilation in the branch, irregular contour, and a cyst-that with my lipase finally gave me a diagnosis. DId your dr say why it wouldn't be CP if NO other prior EUS showed these? Clearly your pancreas has been through some changes.

I had another secretin MRCP, totally negative. I still dont have diagnosis. This last EUS was done by another pyhsician, I have not before. I asked her, why there was nothing on previous EUS, she said, it is her opinion that here are two minor changes, but she also said, it is nothing, no chronic pancreatitis. So, what to say.

Lesley, What about your diagnoses, did you have another EUS. I dont understand, why this thing are not visible on EUS. I have different situation, something is visible on EUS, but no on secretin MRCP. So, what to say? And my amylase and lipase are always normal, no attacks, only constant pain.

I haven't had another scope since the one I had after that srmcp -that eus was normal. However had another MRCP (secretin not included) showed the cyst that the EUS did not see. I have to schedule my next EUS however I am healing from knee surgery. I have received a diagnosis and now just being watched.

THIS has to be the most misunderstood disease of all time. I was ill for 10 years before I had a diagnosis. Mild CP. Pancreas showed mild damage throughout, supposedly from bile ducts not draining and bile washing back thru pancreas. Had three spincterotomys - bile ducts cut.
I'm diagnosed with SOD as well. Right now I'm having a semi-well period and I'm taking each day as it comes. I take pancrealipase, approx 18 per day and Bentyl at night for spasms. Loperamide for diaherrea when that occurs. I'm not sure there are any definitive answers for us. Each case is so very different. My niece had total pancreas surgery with islets harvested into liver. SHe had multiple other health issues and no longer here. She had massive adhesions around all intestines. Not sure any of this will help anyone but just know I pray always that cures will be found. The most help I'd had is at OSU Med Center, Cols Oh. They seem to be very knowledgable about the pancreas. Here's to all of us having a great day. Enjoy as much of it as you possibly can. I also take pain pills for break thru pain. Right now I'm taking none, praise God.

PS pancrealipase is taken before each snack and meal every day. It does help if you stay on it and are consistent. I'm now adding supplements to my diet and have gained three lbs recentlyl.
