Hello All


I am a 51 year old women whom recently suffered a Pancreatic attack Sept 2016, it was a normal work day for me, when I arrived home I began to feel really nauseous and found my self vomitting to a point I had nothing else on my stomach. Shortly after the abdominal pain started. After a few hours the pain increased,  I went to the ER to receive the Acute Pancreatitis diagnosis. After 7 day hospital stay my world was turned upside down, I lost weight rapidly and was told my gallbladder was full of stones and needed to be removed. I went for a second opnion, to be told the same thing. I underwent the gallbladder removal proceedure in 11/2/16, to have another Acute attack 11/15/16. This last attack was a bit milder, not as much pain but never the less it was an attack, I was hospitalized for another 3 days and released. I found this support group in hopes that I can learn as much as I can and perhaps help someone who has had this frightening experience. I was a wine drinker, maybe a glass or two per day. I have not drank since the first attack. I do not know if it was the alcohol consumption or the gallstones that triggered this whole ordeal or the combination of the two. I am doing much better each day, this is my new normal.

Some people are more prone to stones than others. Sometimes the para-thyroid is associated with scarring and calcifications (stones and chaff). Mostly stones come from the liver and the gallbladder. There are cleanses that can be done to remove these stones without radical surgery to eliminate organs. At times though it is difficult to do the cleanse because of vomiting. If you can do it, it only takes a very short period of time and is very effective.

Hello Casey, I am new to this but in September 2016I found myself aling side the road vomiti g and unable to catch my breathe. A officer passing by saw me and called 911 to have medical personel enroute. I was admitted to the emergency room and hospital immediately. My abdomen was swollen and I had fluids in my lungs and heart. After being hospitalized for a month on a feeding tube I was finally released from the hospital. I arrived home some 25 lbs lighter and so weak I could barely stand at times. I met with my primary doctor who did not even know I was in the hospital because he was not the hospitals loop. I was referred immediately to another gastro doctor who was very concerned and imeditely ordered several test to find out why I had this acute attack. The hospital never was able to determine the exact cause and said it was maybe due to me drinking alcohol even after I told them I did not drink that heavy and work long hours so I dont even have time to to drink like that! Anyhoo The gastro doctor found out I have st9ne in my gall bladder and she was sure that was the cause. Long story short.she recommended I have my gall bladder removed and there was another problem. Due to the attack parts of my Pancreas were dead and also developed a cyst on my pancrease around 13 centimeters. She referred me to the best pancreatic center in The nation here in Atlanta. The doctors I met with were all quite young but knew there stuff. The surgery was performed by the doctors using robots. My gall bladder was removed and the re routed my intestines to be attached to the cyst so it could drain and never return.. After a week in the hospital I am home recovering with little or no pain. I am on soft foods and will start taking my creon to help with proper digestion but doctors think that I am blessed to have not only survived the attack but I will recover well. I said all this to say keep the faith. Its been since August and I have not worked since but my job has been very supportive by even letting other employees off to get me to appointments my wife can't make. Keep your head up to you and all others on this site. I will keep you all posted on my new journey.

I was diagnosed with CP at age 11. ( my daughter at age 10 and my Mom had it too)
My brother was never diagnosed ( he got stomach pain as a child ) yet did have a bad attack when he had gallbladder problems. Once the gallbladder was removed that seemed to end his pancreas trouble.
My mom's doc would always ask her how much she drank...she did not drink. ( i have read 80 % of patients with CP ..it is alcohol related... but I think they are talking serious alcohol consumption.
I hope you are like my brother and that you continue to feel better.

Casey, you sound a lot like me. I was told I have pancreatitis after an ER visit in January 2017. I recently had a HIDA scan an have not seen my doctor yet to discuss the results. Last night I debated going back to the ER because of pain and shortness of breath. I hesitate because my symptoms seem subtle most of the time and if they get acute it doesn't last long. My confusion is when do I go to the ER?
I don't want to sound like a crazy hypochondriac. But it worries me to think that my pancreas could be digesting itself and I am unaware of how serious my condition is because my symptoms are subtle but irritatingly obvious. I don't have vomiting or diarrhea. I'm eating low or no fat diet. I always feel hungry. My strongest constant symptoms are fatigue and pain. The pain is bearable enough to not need medication. If I eat too much or something too fatty I get nautious but I have never thrown up.

I have to be sure to check the comments more often....I find comfort knowing I am not alone in dealing with AP since being out the hospital I'm feeling good still under the care of a gastro I have gas all the time and I cannot consume alcohol anymore... I went to dinner with friends and after 1 drink I was really buzzed, think that's it for me. @ not cute stay on top of your Dr visits docs can track how your body is healing or not this AP is very serious and you do not want to have the be faced with an attack low fat diet is best I really had no appetite at all I was too scared to eat. I'm praying for you all. There is life after this disease.
