Diane
. pain on side?? doesn't sound like pancreas pain ?
they think mine is related to gall bladder as well. I don't have a gall bladder but they think the gall stone must have passed when scan was done. but feeling sick lasted months. and it took a long time for my bloods. lipase to come down. the liver was involved.
I have had 3 attacks in 4 years. so the next one I will have the eus .
I have been assured I do not have cancer of pancreas. and that has been ruled out. that was the only thing that worried me. as I don't drink. eat healthy.
they do the scan to look for cyst. which is just a little sac of fluid. when u have the attack. but on seeing another doctor he sent me for another scan. cos it can come up later.
so the reason for the sac of fluid ? is usually inflammation.
Dianne may be able to explain that better.
how long were you unwell for.
I know an older man who was in hospital for 6 weeks with p.cyst and has never had another twinge. but he did quit drinking.
all the best.
now wonder what this pain on the side could be ?
sunny
I'd say I was sick for 6 months but I also developed an ulcer which I believe probably came from some irritation either during the eus or stents, but was never told that.
The ulcer was very bothersome, then on antibiotics which I think upset my stomach.
Sunny, if your pancreatitis came from the gall bladder you must have had more damage then me. Why would you have 3 more attacks? What is the cause of your attacks? Did they land you in the hospital?
I never drank (maybe 3 glasses of wines a week, then none for weeks) and I haven't had a drop of alcohol since, but I am back to eating more fat but try and limit it. I read somewhere, not sure where that fat doesn't irritate the pancreas so I'm assuming if all is well (almost) with my panc, then fat isn't going to cause me an attack. Would it be a true statement to say that if you have a problem with your panc, the issue with fat is, that it won't digest, not that it irritates. I was only on enzymes10,000 for a about 3 weeks. I felt they made me sick, my GI didn't think I needed to be on them.
I sure wish I had the same insurance as before. There is only 1 GI doctor I can go to within 20 miles of my home otherwise I would make an appt. It's hard to switch doctors, especially when they were some of the best in the country.
