I am having a "ding" episode right now. Started after lunch today, when I had a cream -based soup ( moderate fat) and only took one of my enzyme pills, whenI should have taken two I guess. So now I am fasting til I feel better.
I feel that I am holding out well since I first found out it was my pan crease that was causing my problems. My GI suspected sphincter of Oddi dysfunction. When I get pancreatitis the MRI shows the most inflammation and swelling in the head of the pancreas so he is probably correct. I eat a low fat, no meat diet and use enzymes and drink LOTS of water. I also have decreased my stress with lifestyle changes, in my work.
I have never had complex pancreatitis( cyst development, neurosis) and I am only in the hospital for a few days. After discharge, I continue NPO ( no food or drink, including water). I go to Infusion center for IV hydration for 3 days and then slowly increase complexity and quantities of food, keeping VERY low fat for a good two to three weeks.
All the best
