I have been diagnosed with chronic pancreatitis about 6 years ago. I have been hospitalized two times with severe back and stomach ache. My condition has been pretty much manageable.
About a week ago I noticed common early signs for me. Tenderness in stomach and slight pain in the back. This escalated to back pain with slight stomach discomfort with some shortness of breath. I fasted 40 hours and the symptoms pretty much disappeared.
Today I drank an instant breakfast and some oatmeal and noticed the shortness of breath returned. This is a new and scary symptom since I've read this can be a dangerous complication. I actually feel pretty well other than shortness of breath and some slight back pain. Should I go to emergency or wait it out to see a doctor in a few days? Anyone else had shortness of breath without severe pain?

The shortness of breath sometimes comes for me with anxiety, which also comes with a flare.... although I am definitely not saying that is what is happening for you.

Mannix - wow! I have shortness of breath but have never heard much about it on this site. I thought it was just me - I have chronic pancreatitis. I'm often fatigued and cannot walk far, which bugs me as i enjoy walking. Now I'm afraid I can't get back if I walk very far. I'm healthy except for Cp/sod. It's not stress with me. I have shortness of breath much of the time. With or without the pain. Pain is pretty lowgrade all the time now. Best of luck with your condition and treatment.

Sorry replying to an old post here......but totally agree with you Mannix73, barbray10, my symptoms are the same, and now think its chronic pancreatitis but doctors think its IBS - you should go to emergency and tell them - you probably did - I was in hospital twice last week with it and they couldn't find an issue but diagnosed Chronic Fatigue / Fibromyalgia - waiting on a rheumatology next to confirm, but I couldn't work out what the pain was in my chest at first, ibuprofen seems to work and rehydration drink - I am 40 years old and been getting worse and worse, also had a fit - couldnt move, neck stiff, arm pain, leg pain

First of all, I must say my situation is very complicated. I went to the hospital with severe stomach and back pain in March 2020 and was diagnosed with acute and then chronic pancreatitis a few months later. While in the hospital in August 2920, I started having seizures and a month later I had my gall bladder removed. Since then, I’ve been in the hospital a dozen plus other times with the same stomach symptoms. My parents got tired of me going to the same hospital and not getting any relief, so I got a second opinion at Barnes Jewish Hospital and was taken off all 8-9 meds I was previously on and was put on only 3 new meds for my seizures and high blood pressure. Now that I’m back home, the initial hospital put me back on almost all the meds I was originally taking. For example, pancreas enzymes, pain meds, blood pressure meds, magnesium, nausea meds, Nothing seems to work. Right now, I’m dehydrated due to vomiting and diarrhea and still in lots of pain.. I’m trying to be strong because I have a 2 year old son and I’m only 25 years old. I have an appointment with gastro next Tuesday and I’m considering getting the nerve block to alleviate the pain for at least two months. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
