Chronic pancreatitis can present as episodes of acute inflammation in a previously injured pancreas, or as chronic damage with persistent pain or malabsorption. Patients with chronic pancreatitis can present with persistent abdominal pain or steatorrhea, as well as severe nausea. Some patients with chronic pancreatitis often look very sick, while others don't appear to be...
Constant nausea is my most common symptom, along with joint pain.
What gets to me the most though is that this has taken away my hobbies and the things I did to release stress: i.e. gardening and going for very long walks. I'm looking to find something else to do that will reduce my stress/anxiety levels, without having to resort to more meds which will have more side effects. Argh, reading back my post I seem to be just moaning, but honestly its how things are today. Sorry.
Agree with the depression and fear of cancer-it rules me often, dad died of pc and still half the drs dont feel like I have enough evidence for CP
So, after reading a sentence in the report from one if the EUS tests which said "uncomplicated gastritis", I thought, that might be my problem. My symptoms were, pain and cramps lower left ab, and constant nausea. Only in the morning did I feel OK.
So I started a routine of no or low acid foods/drinks. No coffee, no OJ, limit tomatoes and sauces, etc. Take one PPI (Prilosec or Nexium) a day before dinner. And take one Zinc Carnosine Complex after each meal. Probiotics help too.
So now after 5 months I am cured! I still watch my diet, and take my pills, but that is a small price to pay for feeling normal again.
My original symptoms lasted almost 3 years with no relief. I even had a nerve block in the middle of my ab - which did nothing. I had also tried every kind of drug, from pain killer drugs to sedatives. Nothing worked.
Bottom Line, you may not have pancreatitis. Maybe it is gastritis or something else? BTW: My pancreas showed some abnormalities, but that is normal for an older person and not enough for my severe symptoms. Read your medical reports carefully, and if you do not have them get them from your doctors. You can't depend on doctors for everything. You are with your body 24/7, and they see you for 10 minutes.
Good luck, and keep reading other members responses. There is a lot of good info on this blog.
