How are you feeling? I know you had a tough patch around the holidays. In terms of the friend requests, How have you been burnt? I've accepted new friend requests, but I haven't had a lot.

Nibbor are you reffering to Facebook?

You can set your FB preferences to allow only friend request to "friends of friends." That should limit some of the friend requests in the future.

Hey NIbs, How are you feeling? As far as friend requests. I usually see how long they been on the site and what groups and other friends they have. And if they made any post.

I don't do FB and this applies only to DS but....First they need to have a profile and then if I see no common ground in their profile, I deny the request. I had one claiming to be a 16-yr old girl needing help dealing with an unwanted pregnancy. I have no idea why someone like that would send me a friend request and though I would like to help where I can, I have zero experience with such a struggle and felt I could do more harm than good. It's okay to protect yourself.

First I read their profile if it's public, and watch what they post. You can tell a lot by how people respond to someone in need..I agree with twoduct it's ok to say no and protect yourself..

Ta all! That's some good solid advice there! I'm talking about DS not FB, but ta for that info too. I haven't exactly gotten burnt but I've had several guys like, I don't know, coming onto me? Even tho I SAY I'm happily married and all... It's just weird to see someone wanting to be my friend but I've never heard of them. I'll check the profiles and such!

Speaking of solids... I'm eating solid food again! It's exquisite. The texture, the taste. Sigh. So far I'm eating pasta and ice cream. I love food again!

I'm still recovering SLOWLY from the sugery. It's so much harder when they make incisions in both your front AND back! It's really hard to move and sit up mostly. I can only lay on my right side and sort of 1/2 on my back (but I can't lay on the incision cause it bleeds). Sigh. Hoping soon things will be more ... MOBILE!!

And boy, we have a treat here. BLIZZARD #2! And the snow is so light and fluffy. I WANT to shovel (I did do the porch - bad, bad, bad idea!) and make a snowman!!! I'll take pics and hopefully we won't lose electricity like last year (our poor fish froze!). TTFN Nibs :)

oh yes I get those guy requests too nibs and I def say no to them.....it depends like I have a few from here this group but outside groups I really don't say yes too. Hope you are doing better hon......if they become a problem there is the delete button :)

I'm bumping this up again! I thought I remembered a conversation about "Friends" earlier this yr. So my struggles are mostly FB oriented. So I started using the support group page more because I've been sick lately, and lets just face it, bored! I have also had a handful of older guys try to add me on facebook. Now, my instinct is to want to talk to people and help out with info any way that I can because I am constantly doing research on cp, pain therapies, share my own experiences lol....so I think it's really my fault for putting myself out there!

Anyway a few weeks ago I had a post on that page, and this guy had commented on it a lot, and I'd responded. Next thing I know he sends me a friend request on FB and I accepted because I didn't want to seem uppity or rude....Then I get notifications showing me that he "liked" photos in which I am showing skin...like my best friend's wedding, we all had to pose showing leg and a garter....it was posted to my profile months ago by someone else and I've never really thought much of it....Then here comes this guy snooping through all of my pics and it made me feel dirty, exposed, and just creeped out. The worst thing is, I invited this all on. So from now on, I guess I am going to chat with people but not add them...Men on here: Is that offensive if I just turn down a friend request....I do try to explain....The older I get the more I DON'T want others to know my every move...and I like my privacy to a certain extent. It has freaked me out enough that I refuse to put my current city on my fb profile! A bit much?

I'm going to add that I defriended that picture looking person on the sly that same night...I think the part that bothers me the most is that I only knew he was snooping through everything because he did "like" things...I'm wondering how many people are flipping through my pics at any given time?! I have my privacy settings set to the max protection...but still I get people who will go stalk my profile for all its' worth, even if they just see the profile pic and cover photo!

It is weird when that happens. I had a similar experience a few weeks ago. A guy had commented on a few posts I made and we went back & forth on the posts. then he sent me friend request and like you I didn't want to be rude so I accepted. then he started coming on to me, telling me I was cute, etc. I'm 56 years old and this was just creepy. I just deleted his posts and blocked him, which automatically unfriends them. How are you feeling?
