Need help...scared of another EUS

I had an EUS/egd in July and haven't been the same since. I was sick before but since that procedure I can tolerate little more than a liquid diet. Sometimes I eat some of the noodles and broth from chicken noodle soup. The EUS showed honeycoming, stranding and atrophy and that indicated moderate to severe chronic pancreatitis. My blood sugar runs on the high side but I have been able to keep it under control with out having to take any insulin. I don't have oily diarrhea so my pancreas may look bad and hurt when I eat but it's still working. My local doctors are at a loss so I've decided to see a pancreatic team at Columbia Presbyterian in NYC. Anyone else go there or see another "team?" I want people that really understand the pancreas. They want to do another EUS but I'm nervous. It's taking a ridiculously long amount of time recovering from the last one. Any and all suggestions helpful and sorry to all suffering!

Ive had 7 EUS and have never had a reaction. Did they do any biopsies? I find it unusual for an EUS to affect your pancreas since it doesnt come in contact with the organ at all. An ERCP is another story however.

Have you considered an SMRCP? Its an MRI with pancreas protocol and they put secretion in to not only view the ducts better but also to calculate how much your pancreas is functioning. The reason I ask is as I said Ive had 7 EUS. The SRMCP is the ONLY test that showed ANY abnormality. I go to Dr Freeman at U of MN-he is one of the best in the country-he said this tool was better than an EUS -he was 100% right.

Hello Juicelucy! I have had several EUS in the past and all were ok nothing serious. The procedure that put me where I'm at, was my second ERCP with spincter of Od? I think it gave a scarring on pancreas and that's why I am now forever in very strong pain killers, dilauded or hydromorphone and opana 10 er or oxymorphone. Please find some good and very experienced doctor to do another EUS if you are not comfortable to your current doctor. I wish all of us here will have less pain...and hopefully no pain at all!!
