MRCP W/ Secretin injection

Has anyone had this test yet? From what my GI explained it is an MRI w contrast and they inject Secretin which puts your pancreas to work while taking the MRI. It must be really new, they only articles I could find that it was under trials in 2008. I am going in on May 25 to the Cleveland Clinic to have it done, this may be a better way to determine functionality of the pancreas? I'm not sure.

hi I just had that procedure done this past Friday, my doctors called it a MRCP with pancreatic function test. If you google "pancreatic function test" you will get a lot more information on it. However I am a bit confused if that is exactly what you are having done now that I read your post again, your title says an MRCP w/ secretion injection, which is what they do with a pancreatic function test, collecting all secretions every 15 minutes for an hour, however then you say it is an MRI, so I guess I am not exactly sure we are taking about same thing. Anyways I wish you the best of luck and am interested to hear if we are talking about the same thing or if you are having a new procedure I have never heard of

I think a MRCP is an MRI taken W contrast at different times , not sure though? From what my dr described, they are going to inject secretin at the time of the MRCP which will make the pancreas react like you've consumed fat.. kind of like eating a cheesburger before you took the test , but of course you can not eat because it would block the view. I have heard of what you are talking about and I think it is different. In your test , do the actually us a tube to collect samples?

Sorry I was confusing MRCP, with ERCP. So I had an ERCP with pancreatic function test.
However during my test I was injected with secretion at the time of the ERCP which made the pancreas react like I'd consumed fat.. kind of like eating a cheeseburger, like you said, however being that it was an ERCP I had a tube down my throat, into stomach and the just into the duodenum, where they not only took pictures but also collected the secretions every 15 minutes for an hour, and then sent them to the lab (I am still awaiting the results). So sorry for all the confusion, I wish I had the procedure you are having, for I must admit mine was not a very fun one to have and am still nauseous from it, going to ask my doctor if he knows about what you are having and why I couldnt have that.
