for new patients or those who illness seems to be escalting,try keeping track.print out a monthly calendar and divide the days up somehow. 0-good day to 10 worst day. then write down #s for morning,afternoon and evening. put star when you take pain meds. even keep a food diary to see if you can see any trigger-most times there doesn't seem to be one however. i tend to forget but this was a tool i used in beg. to show drs. esp pain dr that i was serious about taking care of myself! hope it helps somebody!
I actually have written an application in Microsoft Access database for a pain med diary for pain level, quantity and strength taken of meds.
