In July I ended up in the hospital with pneumonia. My hematologist had been trying to figure a lot of things out. So he assembled a team of medical specialists. A GI, Pulmonologist, Infectious Disease & Cardiologist doctors. My hematologist had done a bunch of pre testing had tested my IGG levels, IGA levels, in early May the IGG level came back in 663 so he ran the sub classes and the sub class, 2 & 3 were low and 4 was non existent. So next came a pneumonia shot then had to wait several weeks to see if I made any antibodies to it.

Well in the meant time c-diff hit again along with a flare up of CP. The cold I had was now full blown pneumonia, and after a week of IV antibiotics nothing was working. The team of doctors were coming in together standing around me talking back and forth when the ID doc noticed my pneumonia titers were back, and I had failed 10 of 12 is what he said..So that combined with my IGG levels were enough to conclude that I have CVID..They started IVIG the next day...Two weeks later I was well enough to go home. But a week later I was back in the hospital unable to eat and in pain. Infection in the abdomen, pancreas..more IV antibiotics, another loading dose of IVIG..

Then something amazing happened the third month of IVIG treatment the pain in the pancreas started to subside. A CT scan showed a marked improvement where the swelling was concerned. I went from having constant diarrhea 20-40 time a day to 5-7 time a day. The pain which was always a 6-7 is now a constant 3-4 unless I do something stupid like eat butter...After 6 months of treatment I still get some diarrhea, but I can leave the house. Pain is manageable and the infections are a lot less. I have gone almost three months without being hospitalized. The longest in three years..
