My gastro without even explain why gave me Creon. I get stabbing pain under ribs, stomach pain, nausea. Still waiting for endoscopy with ultrasound. I can't say what to do. I find not eating better as eating increases pain
My doctor claimed that I was "cured" and since I was skeptical of this, I went for a second opinion. He said he never thought that I had chronic pancreatitis, and was being treated for the wrong thing. However, I KNOW that something was not right with me. My lipase levels are usually on the high end of normal, high 50's to 61 or so.
In a nutshell, I've really had to curb my drinking. I was never a heavy drinker, but I liked an after work cocktail or beer. I don't do that any more. I will have maybe one glass of wine or one beer on a special occasion, but never more than two drinks. I guess I'm afraid of what is happening to my body and if I'm slowly killing myself and not knowing it. Besides cutting way back on drinking, I take a multi vitamin, vitamin c and b-12. Besides the low dose of xanex, that is it. Oh, I also really try hard to avoid ibuprophen (advil). I was someone who was always taking advil for every ache and pain. That too has ended and I now take Advil very selectively.
I still get what I call "phantom pains", like a sharp jab on my right side, by the rib cage every now and then. That usually makes me freak out a bit and I take a xanex to "take the edge off".
