Chronic pancreatitis can present as episodes of acute inflammation in a previously injured pancreas, or as chronic damage with persistent pain or malabsorption. Patients with chronic pancreatitis can present with persistent abdominal pain or steatorrhea, as well as severe nausea. Some patients with chronic pancreatitis often look very sick, while others don't appear to be...
Your continous pain could be caused by a stricture or blockage in your pancreatic duct. I would suggest you ask your doctor to have a MRCP with contrast to see if they see anything. My daughter has continuous pain caused by calcium built up around her pancratic duct.
Unfortunately chronic pancreatitis is something you can reverse. It's a matter of pain management surgery to help with pain. It also increases your risk of pancreatic cancer. Always make sure you have blood work done to check for type 1 diabetes. Feel free to let me know if you have any questions. My daughter has been dealing with it for 4 years now and I'm still learning myself.
Having your pancreas removed or sections of the pancreas removed all depends on your quality of life. If you are always in the hospital or not eating, lost weight or malnutrition, they may consider some type of transplant. If you are still in constant pain I suggest you ask your GI to have an MRCP with contrast done so they can see what's going on. You may need to have an ERCP done if the find a stone or stricture in the common bile duct or pancreatic duct.
