Endoscopy gone wrong? MALS?

Very long story but have been officially diagnosed with CP after an endoscopy this past Friday at Mayo in Jacksonville. I left the hospital to return home after the out patient procedure, we live about 3 hrs away, and we were almost home when I tried my first bite of food for the day and within 10 minutes I was throwing up violently. Retuned back to mayo dry heaving the whole way. I had the full on pancreatic burn! I've only had 3 flare ups with AP but this was the same pain but my am and lip were fine. They treated me with phenergan and dilaudid and I have been taking it very easy since and am feeling much better. Has anyone else ever had a reaction like this after an endoscopy? The docs told me that they didn't think it had anything to do with my procedure. I can't see how that's possible! They have also told me that they think I have median arcuate ligament syndrome (MALS) where my aorta and celiac nerve are compressed at my T11. Anyone ever been told they had this? They need to remove my gallbladder but don't want to do so until they further investigate the MALS. I'm scared and frustrated and feel like I'm in uncharted water...would love any input.

I had an EUS to remove a polyp. I didn't feel well afterwards, but thought I was just dopey from the procedure. My husband and son were hungry when we left, so we stopped to eat. I didn't feel like eating, but ordered a root beer float. Like you, I was projectile vomiting within 15 minutes. We should have turned around right then, but drove home, which is way out in the country. I immediately went to the bathroom and stayed there. Husband called the doctor, who didn't answer, so called another who told us to get back to ER. They diagnosed AP. I developed acute necrotizing pancreatitis very quickly. My enzyme numbers started decreasing and the doctor assumed I was getting better, but actually my pancreas was dying.

My husband had me moved eventually because I wasn't getting better. I coded and a surgeon was consulted, which should have happened at least a week earlier. But I was extremely ill by then.

This is a scary illness and I don't think it gets enough respect. The next time I had a scope type procedure (an ERCP and another hospital) they had a nurse stay with me the entire time after.

Don't know anything about MALS, but pretty sure the procedure kicked you into AP.

I had an EUS 6 weeks ago..and no problem..but they are scheduling me for another one to do additional testing and a biospy of the outside of my pancreas in 10 days...UGH..now I'm really nervous. I hope that doesn't happen to me. They must have really gotten close to your pancreas to have that happen. That seems very unusual. Now I'm wondering how common it is??
