Duodenum and pancreatitis.

I had an endoscopy done today due to 8 weeks of constant nausea, constant pain, vomiting, 20 lb weight loss and loss of appetite.

He said the esophagus and stomach all looked normal. But when he got down to the duodenum it looked pronounced. Not sure what he meant by that, but he did a biopsy.

Has anyone had issues with your duodenum along with your pancreatitis.

I guess what I am trying to figure out is if there is a connection between the two or if it is 2 different issues.

He added Bentyl to my meds twice a day, just to see what it does.

So, I now take Prilosec, Creon and Bentyl. Along with my phenegran and pain meds.

Stomach is feeling rough, so need more pain meds now, and I hate them. I cannot take anything with codien as it will set off a pancreatic attack.

So, my question is, has anyone had issues with your duodenum along with your pancreatitis? Or heard anything about it? Any info would help. Thanks.

not sure if this is the same thing, but i was diagnosed with pancreatitis 3 years ago. i've had the same kind of pain all my adult life, but we haven't figured out if i have CP or acute (or recurring acute?). my 13 year old son was also diagnosed with pancreatitis last year. for both of us the cause was undetermined, as neither of us is a heavy drinker ;), nor do we have gallstones. i've been to the ER several times with pancreatitis-type pain, but only had elevated enzymes twice (within a month of the diagnosis, so they don't know if they were separate attacks, or one unresolved one).

anyway... i had more continuous pain a couple of months ago, and went to my GI to see if it was pancreatitis. she decided to give me an endoscopy, and found i have a duodenal ulcer (as well as a peptic ulcer). she says my ulcers have nothing to do with my pancreas. i DID read though that sometimes ulcers can bore through to the pancreas. or something like that.

i take bentyl for spasms and i love love love it! its really helped me almost as much as having pain meds do! and that's really saying something....hope it helps you as much :)
