Wanted to see how long everyone if they in fact do get stomach cramps and pains and diahrea starts after they eat? I have found on the days I don't take my creon in which I forget. (silly me) I have almost immediate discomfort but usually I don't have diahrea till the next day.

i always get pain after i eat.....thats why i wait as long as i can before i eat. I cant take pancreatic enzymes....so i either deal with it or take my pain med when it hurts too much. I dont usually get diarrhea...so lucky so far in that dept.

How come you can't take digestive enzymes?

because pancreatic enzymes put fat back into the blood and because of my high triglycerides (genetic prob) I cant add to it.

wow Diane i didnt know that, i have high triglycerides also and they gave me enzymes hmmm going to ask Dr about that when i see him again. but yes the pain is almost immediate after i eat and then i get diarrhea about 3-4 hours later but not all the time

Wow Diane that's no good. You could still take them. Even if you eat non fatening meals. Even with vegitables and things like that it would still help.

I'm usually able to keep the d at bay with fiber but too much of that causes constipation. I've been unable to tolerate enzymes as they cause me nasty cramps and lots of gas. Regular pain usually comes shortly after eating. If I eat too much of something or some other trigger, d usually hits later that evening. Excessive stress will bring the d too. Hope you are feeling better today.

sorry i didnt see the comments but....my triglycerides use to be in the thousands and now they are in the 600s so my current med regimen is working for that ....the drs dont want me taking the enzymes cuz it will increase it back to 1000s. I only take in 15 grams of fat a day so not much.....Each day is diff how well i tolerate foods some days better than others. It is part of the disease.

You know it gets aggravating that pancreas issues come and go day by day. However, at least I do get a break from time to time. Just not today. Today my stomach feels like it's really bruised and sore.

I couldn't agree more. It's amazing how such a small organ can feel so big. Sure makes one appreciate the good days. I hope things settle down for you
