Best intervention for a new pseudocyst?

My husband is going in for a CT scan tomorrow, followed by MRCP on Monday. They didn't want to wait to get more information for four days so lots of tests tomorrow mornings.

It seems like many of you have had treatment for pseudocysts - any advice or watch outs for someone who is likely going to need a procedure?

Chrissy - how did the CT scan go and did your husband have a procedure?
I had EUS with my 13 cm pseudocyst in March then another one in April to put drains in. Then CT scan showed it was now 5 cm and dr felt it should go away on its own.
What is the difference between and MRCP and EUS? I've read some scary outcomes of the MRCP. For all I know, that is what I had too but I never was told I had that.

A MRCP is part of a MRI, they take a closer look at the ducts, it's an imaging study. Whereas an EUS is an Endoscopic Ultrasound procedure where you need to be sedated. An ERCP is endoscopic as well and Dr's can examine the duct, drain some cysts, place stents & more.

I had a pseudo-cyst, it was removed along with a tumor 9 years ago.

Looking back, I wish someone would have advocated for more pain meds for me, I wasn't "Drug Seeking" I was in excruciating pain & having a reaction to the percoset they were making me take orally & with crackers & juice. The biopsy's had triggered pancreatitis. I should have had a pain pump, oral meds were making it worse.

Hope your Hubby's CT went ok. I have a MRI with MRCP next week as well. I always make sure to get meds to help me relax during the test, it's a long test so make sure pain & nausea meds are given if needed, hopefully they will give him headphones with music.

It seems like the MRCP has more risks then an ERCP. I get confused here, because there is so much information and I read for hours and by the time I'm time I'm done, I can't remember all the different terminology.
If I'm correct in saying that ERCP's are safer, then why would one have an MRCP...seems like a lot of people here got their pancreatitis from an MRCP?
I hope my pseudocyst is shrinking after 2 EUC with stents. I won't know until I have another CT scan. I have an Endoscopy scheduled the end of the month but that is for my ulcer and not sure it can tell about the cysyt.
I'm curious BLDRMTNGRL how big was your cyst when they removed it and did they try other options first?
