Hello. Looking for any advice or thoughts from anyone who may help. 2 weeks ago, suddenly about 30 minutes or so after dinner, I started to have a pain in my left side. I thought it was indigestion. It progressively got worse but instill thought indigestion. I fell asleep that night and it woke me up out of sleep with Sharp pains. I eventually fell back asleep for the night.
The next morning I went into work and it seemed to have subsided, not pain, but still felt off. That morning it steadily got worse again and I went to the ER. They did blood work, urine test and a CT scan. All came back normal. I was released 5 hours later and went home. By then, the pains had once again subsided. I had some din.Eric that night and later on they came back with a force. Intermittent spasms lasting about 20 to 30 minutes at a time. I was taken back to ER in ambulance. Pain was so terrible, I couldn't drive. They did x rays,more blood work and still everything came back fine. They kept me in hospital for 3 days. Did external ultrasound, internal ultrasound and a hida scan. Everything came back fine, with the exception of discovering endometriosis, which they seemed to think as unrelated. I was given dilaudid in the hospital and neurotin when released. The spasms have subsided but i still feel intermittent pain and cramping . I am worried they missed something and I keep thinking about my pancreas.
I have been taking it easy since I got out. Got a second opinion from local doctor who seems to also think it is muscular.
The pain is right under my bottom left ribs, hurt more when I breathed deeply, dull ache when not moving sometimes and stabbing pain during the spasms. I still ( 2 weeks later) feel off. Still pains here and there but the severity and frequency of them have substantially subsided.
Any thoughts or similar situations? I am frustrated and it's making me feel like I am going crazy because they keep telling me it's muscular. Thank you.

Also...I am a 32 year old female, moderate drinker, moderate diet.

Did they do a blood test to check your Lipase levels? That can answer a question about the pancreas.

Have you already been dx with chronic or any form of pancreatits in the past? My pain feels like sharp stabs but its high up, directly under breast.

Hello, I am sorry to tell you that you most likely have acute pancreatitus. Your story and symptoms are exactly mine. First, I am (was) a moderate drinker. I had the same pains (under my left breast) sometimes so painful I would drop to my knees, other times a dull pulsating pain. If I breath deep there is pain - it almost takes my breath away! When I first started having the pain 3 doctors told me it was some type of muscle spasm. After going to the ER for the 4th time (by ambulance the 4th because I could not even get out of bed) I was hospitalized and given morphine - finally had 3 MRIs done and a PET scan and it was my pancreas. To make matters worse - over the months between my ER visits I continued to drink. This made cysts form around my pancreas - if you think the pain can't get worse it can! Now I have had the occasional glass of wine (I know this is totally not good!) and the next day I would be in horrid pain the last days even if I stopped drinking. Please goto a GI doctor incase of complications - pancreatitis can be very dangerous! I pray you don't & it is just a spasm! Try not to drink if you are still in a lot of pain and start a lite diet - clear liquids if you can - food can irritate it more. Good luck and stay healthy!

Thank you. I am on almost a month of this now. I have an appointment with a specialist this week. Hoping for some answers.

You need to see a gastro dr. who specializes in the pancreas. They don't always diagnose it early on. It doesn't always show up on xrays, tests, lab work. It sounds like pancreas to me. Worst pain in the world just about. Just my opinion. This is a great place to get info. Let us know what they find when you do get to dr. Prayers for your recovery. Hugs.

Thank you. Just saw a gastro. Testing for lipaise ( again) and amalyze. Do those normally show up off if there is an issue? Also, going for another ct scan. I am in pain a month now. Is that length of time normal w pancreatitis?
