Ok guys......... its time to ask the experts........
My son has been having pain now for about 4 weeks...on pain meds.. oxycodone, and percoset... with benedryl...and 30 mgs of prilosec 2x daily...and recently added carafate...
the pain is mostly in the chest area...and only a little bit in the abdomen..which is weird, cuz usually the major pain is in the abdomen (stabbing pain) but this time its mainly in the chest...(stabbing pain)..hmmmmm
well its been 4 weeks and no relief......
We did see his GP at about 2 weeks into it and she said ummm try ice and heat, or a epson salt bath...ok done with that.... so i emailed the gp and said well this isnt really working.....anyway....I guess Im starting to wonder is this the cp acting up?? or is it something new???
how common is it to have the chest pain? should we go to hospital? if we do he will be kicking and screaming... or do we just need to face the fact that his life is to be spent at home on drugs? how many of you are doing that? I mean doing nothing but sitting on the couch and taking drugs? really? is this the life I need to expect for my son? at the age of 17?????? really??????????
btw for those who dont already know, he has had it since he was 12, and has had two major bypass surgeries, due to annular pancreatitis....he lives on Tolerex, ( food maintenance - tube feed) but he takes it oral...does not want tube... also he has had times when he feels good and can go to school and can eat. but those times dont last long.

Ya I think I know deep down that we need to go in..... BUT......
He has been in before with chest pain, he has had it before, but only for about the last year.....when he goes in for chest pain, they take 5 million scans....and never find anything..... so I guess Im looking for an easy answer....cuz more imaging just makes me think......cancer!!!
does any one ever worry about the amount of imaging that you go through? he has had literally 5 million imaging tests....
Ok ok I know ..... no easy answer.. I was hoping someone would say.... oh ya no problem, just change the meds to _____
Two duct....believe it or not, Dr awstruck actually told us that exact same thing "the pancreas can throw the pain" lol.....He also said the the pain can be "mimicked" Im guessing when you are stressed, you can imagine it....sometimes I wonder if this is true?????

I just think it is sooooo weird how that pain can just run around and go anywhere!!!
Carrie, yes he has had his gallbladder taken out...but wow i didnt know even that pain can be in your chest...weird...
also When he had is "hideascan" test, it showed the g bladder was perfect, and the surgeon refused to take it out with the scheduled bypass....so we had to make a decision to find a different surgeon who was willing to take out a possibly perfectly good gallbladder.....well, we did and he performed the bypass, and removed the bladder....and told us it was so inflamed and horrible looking it NEEDED to come out, plus it did have "crystals" at one point previously.....sooooo I say all this to say... the "hideascan is just that....LOL fof it hides the scan lol hahah cuz it didnt show anything, but yet the bladder was bad and needed to come out!!! crzy world dont ya think....
btw.... this is why I HATE imaging....but yes, unfortunately at times I know it needs to be done :(
