Pardon my language, as Im new to this site.but honestly; this disease has me seriously angry.
Labor Day 2012, I was so sick. High fever, throwing up, abdominal crampingthe works. I went to the ER, and was diagnosed with Pancreatitis. (it didnt help that Id been drinking the day before and smelled like a sauced up cookie tosser) I was in the hospital for two full weeks; bloated, pain pump, every test imaginary done, and then finally a NG tube for nutrients. I ended up with a psydocyst. Found a surgeon after I got out of the hospital, and he saidSURPRISE, no pancreatitis, my appendix had ruptured and thats what caused everything. He then went in and removed what was left of my appendix.
Went back to socially drinking and all around fun living as my pancreas was fine!! December 2013, NYE, I had my first pancreatitis attack. Thought it was anxiety.laid of the booze and spicy food for a week and all was well again. April 2014, another small attack. June 2014, pain was so bad I went to the ER where I was admitted for.pancreatitis. GI did an UES, sludge in the GB, but nothing more to see. Was in the hospital for five days with the normal drill: NPO, liquid diet, bland food, discharge. The Internal Medicine doctor wanted to remove my GB that visit, the GI said come back after my pancreas was less inflamed, and the surgeon said to run out of the hospital and dont look back as they dont remove GBs for sludge in perfectly healthy 33 year old women.
My new PCP asked if I was delusional as no three doctors could ever contradict themselves the way Id described.so I stopped seeing him. October 2014, mild attack, got a GI doctor who I love. I literally just saw him last week with him saying, keep eating well, and minimally drinking and I will see you if you have pain again.
Monday, went to work, had lower belly pain. Not my normal pain place for my panc, so I just thought it was food poisoning or something lame. NOPE! By 7pm, I was doubled over in pain, nauseous, and had a very important meeting at work at 8am I was not missing. Called the on call MD who said take advilthinking back its laughable that she thought advil would make any sort of dent. Went to work, presented, then told my boss the whole lovely story about having pancreatitis. Hes cool, I left.
Saw my GI on Wednesday, he said, I dont think this is pancreatitis due to where he was pushing on my belly. I mean, my panc pain is right under my breast bone, and then radiates down my right hand side all the way down. He took blood work and scheduled an MRI for a later date. Thanksgiving night the on call GI called me to tell me my lipaise was at 800 and my amalaise (sp) was at 200 and why wasnt I in the hospital. I hate the hospital.
Im new, and still really angry at this disease. I just wanted to share with yall and see if there is anything I can do to cope better. The pain sucks, and my GI is of the idea that any opiates will block some ductand advil sucks. So this is me, angry in Connecticut with this disease that we all seem to be bounded by.

And doctors do contradict themselves. They do it until you're dead and then somebody has to take charge and hopefully it's the guy who can at least save your life long enough to get you transferred to a better hospital.
