just wanted to update you all on my son... he has finally decided to go ahead with the TP AIT..... did not take this decision lightlly...as he has already had two previous major surgeries....will keep you informed!!

Please refresh my mind. Does that mean they will take out 100% of his pancreas?

I wonder if his doctors will then put him on an insulin pump and lots of enzymes?

That's the nice thing about these modern days, they have all sorts of devices to help us like the pumps and so on.

Well, I bet he is getting excited to know that after they take it out he will no longer have that horrid pancreas pain. Totally cool! :)

Wow, they will do that here in the valley? Or will he go up north? I bet you are relieved he finally made a decision. How are you doing with this decision? You must be happy and nervous all at the same time...I will sa prayers for you both.

What a huge decision for someone so young to have to make. How soon will he be able to have the surgery? I'll be praying for you all.

Thank you all for your support..and BJ yes, they take out the duodenum,spleen and panc....then harvest the islets from the panc and transplant them into the liver in hopes that he can live most of his life without being "diabetic" ( not guarantee there, but worth a shot!) and he is not to happy about it but is living a life on disability and pain meds and no school and no plans cuz as u know... when u plan something you usually have to cancel......and yes, he is having the surgery at UCLA and as soon as we get the Kaiser referal paper work done, blaaaa then we will get a date.....:)

Hope he gets his referral soon. Nothing worse than having to hurry up and wait..Then of course you are on Kaiser time..I will be in Fresno Tuesday..I'll call you to see if we can meet..
