My husband had no health issues at all. He developed pc out of the blue and was already at stage 4 with mets to the liver when he developed symptoms that sent him to his doctor.

My boyfriend also was very healthy, vegetarian, ate organic, never hospitalized, never even really sick at all.
September 2012 vomited blood. Diagnosed with Large Cell Neuroendocrine Pancreatic Cancer. The tumor was huge, also spread all through his liver. He tried one round of chemo, with no results. He's currently in the hospital right now having an EGD to see is it's cancer in his stomach.

My mom had pancreatitis initially and it lead to PC. But it all happened out of the blue

My husband had to have his gallbladder removed, his doctors had told him eventually he'd need to have it done. He started having severe pain one night and we called an ambulance. They finally diagnosed him with having pancreatitis, and told us they were seeing signs of possible pancreatic cancer. He came home from the hospital and was diagnosed with pc after a doctor did an endoscopy and saw it there. He might not have had the diagnosis when he did if he hadn't already been there for something else. As far as I know he's never had any genetic testing done.

My mother had her gallbladder removed several yrs before she was diagnosed with PC. Her diag came out of nowhere, her symptoms started 2 months prior to her death... back pain, abdominal pain, GI symptoms, loss of appetite, it was horrifying and shocking. She was diag. stage IV mets to liver and lymph nodes and wasn't a candidate for surgery...died 3 wks after diag. No family history but she was a smoker...age 64. Pancreatic Cancer is known as the silent killer simply because by the time a person is symptomatic, the cancer has usually spread and become virtually untreatable. We need early screening for this Cancer... Chronic Pancreatitis is a known risk factor for PC.

Has your dr mentioned TP/AIT? I just had gen testing, my dad died of PC and I have what drs THINK could be pancreatiits. I am watched carefully now. However, my gen testing came back neg but if it were positive I would of done the TP. It is a pretty big risk factor to test pos for those genes and have pancreatis.

I have a pancreatic cyst alled an IPMN, whih is often precancerous and has to be removed at some point

My IPMN came out of the blue. I have no symptoms clearly related to it. It was caught after my doctor had ordered routine lipase and amylase tests, both of which showed higher levels than normal.

hey sesser........ my son just had the TP/AIT.... had annular pancratitis ...suffered in hospitals for years... doc said do it or u may end up with PC.........so he did.... 2 months in the hospital and now doing well....
