Oh yeah...She gave me ten days to respond to the letter urging me with a threat of eviction for harassing other residents about their religions or lack thereof (if any, her words), so I responded by filing & firing a letter off back to her through a government agency I shan't mention here....
I haven't heard a word from her since.. am not sure if she got it yet..
I have been avoiding her " like the plague" because I am "chicken" but I did get a supervisor from my program I am in, to go to the meeting with me ( if there is one) so she can't pull a fast one on me with false allegations or demean me as she always does...

I hope DS will allow these replies to remain so that you can see the current social issues that I am dealing with as a senior disabled person living in government housing. A friend of mine tried to get help with mold growing in his apartment & even sent photos to the reporting government appeals agency for the building. They said it was "Unfounded" & it got squashed!! Then maintenance came into his apartment & covered up the mold in question with spackling paste like it was nothing & HE got an eviction notice the next week! (That was 3 days ago...)

Any comments from the OTF Neighborhood??!!

WOW! NDY, it sure sounds like you have the basis of some kind of religious persecution case building up! Mebbe you could speak to some of the religious organizations and see if they have any ideas?

Personally, i would contact every TV and news outlet in the area and let them know what is going on. The more public you are, the less this "manager" can get away with on the QT.

But...if they can get away with such easy evictions...well...how you fight is up to you, but props for standing your ground and please keep us posted, eh?

NDY, your story sounds similar to something I heard about on tv a while back going on in low income neighborhoods in NYC - not the bible study group issue, that's a separate thing - but the government funded housing folks getting pushed off when they complain about the state of the living arrangements how they get ignored forever and then when someone finally comes to do something about a problem, namely mold in the cases that were shown in this news thing I saw, they would come to just paint and spackle like you mentioned and then pretend like the job's taken care of or they'd come in to inspect something and say there's nothing wrong or blame the tenant rather than admit the building needs work. Seems to be a federal issue and not just a city or state related one. I want to say it was on 60 Minutes" but I could be wrong... they even had people who worked for HUD admitting on camera there was an issue and then seeing how nothing was being followed up on and the whole 9. HUD still was lax to do anything to change the issues even when it was pointed out to them with their story too. I know none of that is any consolation, but it seems to be something that happens in a lot of places, and it has been taken to tv news and still things don't seem to matter.

In so far as the bible study meetings - is the problem just that you're doing so in a community room within your complex? I mean, if you're scheduling to use the room in advance and other religions and denominations are being given the same option, then there shouldn't be an issue and so long as you're not preaching to those who do not wish to be involved in your group, then your apartment manager really shouldn't have an issue with you. You're following whatever by-laws the complex has as well, I assume. Is there someone who the apartment manager answers to? Like a board of complex members or whoever it is the rent gets paid to (I'm assuming the apartment manager doesn't own the complex but only works there)? Because whoever they answer to may not know they are causing so many issues and threatening evictions so easily and such - might be good to contact whoever is in charge of them and let them know these things. Might be good to get a lawyer involved as well - someone who might be willing to work pro bono or for a nominal fee to represent you and maybe others in the complex as well who have been having issues with this person. A lawyer could advise you of your rights in this circumstance and whether they have any legal right to do what they are doing to you and help you fight what you can.

Our group is an ecumenical, mixed bag of denominations as well as undeclared participants who gather to be informed and uplifted every week to learn about God's word as well as to gather afterwards to celebrate fellowship and love of neighbors by dining together.

Meeting attendance is not required to join in the meal. There is no "to-go", as emphasis is on getting better acquainted with neighbors. If you are I'll or housebound, plates may be delivered and we do have some regular shutins who receive complete meals on a weekly basis as a courtesy on a regular basis.

Although it is Christian by design, two of our most stalwart members are Jews. All of the residents of the building are invited but I am not allowed to approach other occupants openly as I have been warned: "If I hear of you inviting one more person on the elevator, I am going to evict you!" I really need to do an update on a recount as a couple have died, moved, or gone into a nursing home since plus more have "wandered in by word of mouth..." When I try to a membership campaign, she calls it "solicitation" and bans it. It's like trying to operate with one hand tied behind your back.

Most importantly, we are in touch with each other's lives and pray for our needs and others during our study time. Some of the unattending residents as well as care givers put in prayer requests all the time. If the manager are to endorse attending, our meeting would be full up but, unfortunately, it is quite the opposite. And, outside of Bingo & cards, we are the ONLY group that meets at all. But because if the manager's most recent antics, meeting attendance has fallen off considerably.

There is no social club, no tenant's committee- they have both been attempted and failed because of her intimidating maneuvers. Most people remain because they either have always lived in tjis area or have family here and either don't want to or can't live elsewhere.

But, I have decided to stand WITH my friend and help him to fight his eviction. I really never intended to BE the tenant's committee but it looks like that the case for this thing too... I am going to help him to summarise his complaints ( with facts) and refile them and to file a retaliation complaint against her..

Yes, Tess .. he sent his ONLY pictures to HUD then the mold was covered over in spackling by management and the complaint was said to be "Unfounded" by the HUD reprtng agency, and the health department sent a copy of the letter they sent to management stating that if they were to evict this person that they would drop their end as well... Guess what? A few days later, is when he got his eviction letter from management. Also stating numerous "false police reports" that were never truly investigated but because she has concluded the allegations were directed against her and her staff that, therefore, the reports are false. And because she has said that, it's accepted as "Gospel truth" by all the reporting agences and she lies "like a rug" all the time and twists the truth , in her favor, as it/uits her AND gets away with it ALL the time. She has different rules for everyone and plays favorites all the time. And is flagrantly open about it also all the time.

I may end up "on the outside looking in" because I can't stand to see another person mistreated - it's not in my nature. I have two more semesters to go and I will be a volunteer social minister with the local diocese. So I guess the experience will serve me well. I intend to still be living here in order to help the other people in this building as well as the community-at-large that would not normally go to the church parish for help.

But the wear and tear is taking a toll on my health as I had a mild heart attack on May 7th. I have developed Anemia and have been, excuse me, literally, "dragging my ass" around here trying to get by... But I have to remember such great lines such as, "Whatever is formed against me in the Lord cannot stand", "It's the Lord's battle not mine." And, "Just a closer walk with thee, Precious Jesus, let it be."

ndy it sounds like someone needs to purchase an apartment building, investment properties are generally easy financing. two thirds of what would be brought in for rent counts as income and then multiply that by 3 or 4 and that is the amount a person would qualify for to buy one. many people buy them with no money down because the income alone makes it do-able. if you convert each unit to an owner financed "condo" they could own their own unit.

just an idea.

if you were in florida. we have areas with FREE mobile homes in parks and then the lot rent on the park is around $200 per month. have no idea what you pay up there, but i urge people OFTEN about the mobiles in florida. a lot of people love living like that and some of the mobile home communities are very nice, complete with inground pools.

do it this way. say you are paying 1000 per month. 650 of that would count as income. if you have ten units, that is 65,000 per year in "income" just from the units. now multiply that by 3 (being conservative, though with low interest of today its probably 4) you would qualify for a mortgage of 195,000 (or a building that costs $195,000 with ten units/apartments). the mortgage allowed could also be higher like $260,000 because interest rates are so low and if the person buying has really good credit.

its a good idea because you could rent to all your friends who are being harrassed. if the place you are in is subsidized, your's can be subsidized too. the money is still received but it comes from the government with a very small sum from the tenant.

Sounds like" brain fracture time" to me.... Not" my cup of tea", besides, reached a compromise w with the manager to allow my members to" sign out the bathroom key" Like we used to do in school but it is a beginng i Nguyen compromise with more negotiations needed....
And, after all that altruism I went through, my friend has decided to "go it alone as I am more of a liability than an asset!"(Go figure!)
This is enough by a national land management holding company whom I doubt would be willing to sell anyways... but still, a great idea!

they have something like that on facebook, called growing up in the 60's and 70's or something like that. they post all kinds of weird stuff with photos and its like do you remember this?


all groups go through the lots of activity and little activity thing. dezna used to be great at inviting alllll the new people on the home page and having TONS of easy topics in discussion every day. then she got sick and left and just returned recently. its a LOT of work leading anything. messaging everyone helps if you list the discussions, as it triggers enough to want to express and show up.

i've had bronchitis for about a month, 3 weeks of true illness and antibiotics and now its just lingering congestion. getting there. had a car accident christmas week, was totally NOT OKAY for a couple of months after that, then head started clearing. yay! still need to find a car and all that. glad i didn't attempt it in the beginning as a lot of the info the first guy gave me was actually WRONG and i'd have had huge rental car bills, unless my insurance picked it up next. so its best this way. thank goodness my car still ran, its just the trunk that is smashed.

we are being harrassed by a foreign woman that a group PAID to harrass us. this "group" does stuff like this to people YEARLY. even at the no kill shelters. so for people who FEIGN liking animals, they are really just a group of predators out for donations who don't comprehend people genuinely feeding animals after work and getting them fixed, just because the ANIMALS need help, and not for personal gain. what assholes. though interestingly, they were showing up BEFORE we were seriously doing rescue. they break into houses and in my opinion, are now targeting people with pets, via the personal records from the humane society over here. the sooner that is wrapped up the better. amazes me its gone on for so long. 14 years that i know of and some of this was going on before that. jt turned them in in 1996. and it SITS just as everything always sits.

i'm on aspirin therapy and my nose and lip go numb without it. i know this is bad. hope it all works out.

While it sounds like we're being targeted for different reasons, once a "target", the game is pretty much the same, and it's never "fun" being "it".

Mine has been pretty much lifelong. MK like schtuff. Won't go into too much of it here, 'cept to extend my thanks to you in writing of your experience, and to let you know you have an understanding believer in you who wishes you well in your fight against true "evil ones".
