My favorite meal is always Thanksgiving meal , where my family all come to my house and make the same thing every year............... Turkey and dressing, macaroni and cheese, sweet potato casserole, green bean casserole, cheese grits, squash casserole, cranberry sauce, deviled eggs, homeade bread...... pecan pie, , chess pie, pumpkin pie, chocolate cake........... and ofcourse sweet tea! Yes, can you tell I'm from the south??

I cannot recall any specific "best" meal. So many different kinds of foods, there's really no way to realistically compare them. Toss in the variables of my appetites and tastes at the time and it becomes completely impossible.

One of my favorite foods is fried chicken. The best I've ever had was at the Fairview Drive-in theater in Montgomery, Alabama back in the '60s. The best steak was at The Firehouse in Mesa, Arizona. The best hamburger was cooked by an off-duty prostitute at a no-name hole-in-the-wall greasy spoon in El Mirage, Arizona. The best fish I've ever had was large-mouthed bass from our pond cooked over open coals by my dad.

When they were small, 8 & 10 yrs old, we would camp by an artificially stocked trout stream. My two boys would roll up their jeans, wade into the stream, and catch the trout in their hands to be cooked over the coals of the camp fire. For those who don't know, freshly killed fish has a sweet flavor seasoned by the smoky coals of the wood fire unlike the taste of those stale, dead fish with the coagulated blood in the grocery stores!
