A quote from one of our happy Over The Fence members: "Hi JS- Thank you for the welcome message. Do you remember that show Home Improvement and the neighbor Wilson Wilson Jr. who would meet Tim the Tool Man at the fence, but never showed anything but his eyes? He was so funny. This group reminds me of those encounters... you get the wisdom, humor, and support from your DS...
i live in florida. i live one block from the intracoastal and five blocks from the ocean in a two story house. i run an animal rescue as a hobby for the passed nine years that i am passionate about. i want to see federally mandated and free spay and neuter. i want animal care taught in all the grammar schools. i want meat eating BANNED. and i want universities worldwide along with sororities and fraternities worldwide to do the animal rescue thing.
i am a mortgage broker and i supervise our local office which is doing poorly since the economy bottomed out. but we are still standing and many are closed down. our company was bought out by a billion dollar company who is owned by one of the biggest companies on the planet. so now we have cheaper medical insurance. that's the only advantage so far. lol.
i have one grown daughter who hopefully will go to college this year. my boyfriend's (of 18 years on and off) son's younger sister is also here on weekends. all of our kids are big. omg!!!! i have more pets than i can list. i am a college grad and an artist. was a professional photographer in the 90's, have a degree in visual art. went to an ivy league school. may return to school because of the economy. lol. studied abroad for a year and worked in an international lawfirm abroad. was a court reporter and did legal support work before that and overlapping with photography in federal and state court and various lawfirms for 14 years. before during and after college.
i worked in the arts throughout my childhood, babyhood, teens, twenties. b level art of the 90's i discovered is just as fulfilling as a level art, but with less aggravation and less fight for your money.
how about you?
we were messing about in the water,after a while I decided to do a little swimming,I was not much good.
suddenly I got a big body spasm and lost control and started to sink,I managed to surface a few times but
by now I was too weak as I sank for the final time,my last though was what a stupid thing to do on a lovely
sunny day,ther pool was open air.
My next memory is of voices and lots of watergushing out of me,to this day I do not know who saved my life
that was many years ago now.since then there have been other close encounters with living on the edge!
It was dark and stormy but a hot evening in the peak of Summer...
I was scared of the deep end bec of a couple of circumstances that had occurred when I was small and nearly drowned.The first experience occured when I was four and stumbled and fell on my face in the water of a lake. I panicked and screamed.The water then went down into my lungs. I began choking. Of course, my mom was there and grabbed me up quicklly!
The second time I was 6 and with my brothers. We were all horsing around sitting in an old Army raft. It tipped over and I was trapped beneath it. At first, nobody missed me ( Imagine that ?!! LOL!), but soon they flipped it over and found me.. They all started laughing but it was dark and scary under there so I cried ! ( LOL !
But to get back to my immediate story - I didn't want to go in the deep end as I was too scared and intimidated by my previous ecperiences though I had learned how to swim when 9yrs of age. While we were walking to the diving board so I could watch him dive - He thought he'd be funny and pushed me into the 8-ft area! Down I went into the Deep Turqouise Sea ( It was a cement public swimming pool ) !
Suddenly, I was in this dark room with my eyes burning. I walked around looking to see, "Where am I?" I thought to myself. I could see these dim lights flashing here and there...Just as suddenly, my date was throwing me up on the side of the pool doing life-saver techniques on my back (pre-resusitation days! LOL!).. Apparently, I had gone into shock...
And the life guard had told him, "You pushed her in - You pull her out! " That is why I was down there long enough to take in the view..! The 'dark room' was the bottom of the pool! The dim flashing lights was the lightening flashes going off which I later discovered had caused the life-guard to close the pool at that very moment when I was pushed in !
But, fortunately, I survived to live another day !

She died when I was 18 months old, and she was 23. So me & big sis(2yrs. older than me) went to live with dad's parents..Gramdma & Grandpa.
I was sleeping in a crib then in that big, old, old house.(I still remember bits of it.) I woke up every night as I was being held in ABOVE the crib by someone. As soon as I could pull myself completely awake, I was gently set down in my crib.(I now know it was my mother.)
I would then climb over the rails & awaken my grandparents and try to tell them what was happening(I'm sure now they didn't understand my babyish talk..) but I thought they did..and when they just took me to the bathroom(they thought I was afraid to pee at night by myself)..then said.."Now just go back to sleep & don't bother us again..")I was so baffeled!
When I was 3 daddy married again..and she was MEAN..I have to say she was physically & mentally VERY abusive to me & my sis.
Then I started having nightmares & sleep walking nearly every night all the rest of my childhood. It was so scary..I was always afraid, for I never knew when she would attack & beat us for no reason.
I often plotted to run away from home starting at the age of 6..and my sis joined in on our imaginary games of "getting away in the forest."
When I was 8 I got sick with bronchial pneumonia & step-mom refused me any treatment with antibiotics.
Long story short..I literally "died" one night when I sat at the dinner table wrenching & moaning in pain, as my right ear had shocks of fluid searing up to my brain.
I was told to go back to bed...and then I left my body.
I died there alone in my little twin bed.
BUT... My 8 yr. old self had FUN putting my hand on the blankets & seeing my hand goes THROUGH the blankets!!! Matter was NOT really matter..but this 8 yr. old little girl just found the joy of it all, and I kept floating around & putting my hands through things I had THOUGHT were HARD..but just silly softness. OH what fun!:)
I became very spiritual and spent recess time at school in the church. I also got up at 5AM..before my family..to walk to church before school.(I became super spiritual.)
My "family" began to think of me as a very odd, "wierd" child.
Well...it went on & on..I began to see auras around people & sacred statues. So I finally told them..and they treated me like I was "nuts."
My step-mother began SCREAMING at me "Why don't you become a "normal" girl?"
Then she would BEAT me on my face & back with a belt or wooden spoon..and throw me into walls...and drag me by my hair(NOT KIDDING)
OK...fast forward...
When I was 11..I had my 1st grand, HORRIBLE panic attack. I didn't know what it was, and concluded I was going "insane."
It happened in school & I hid it as best I could..but it was not brief, but became an ongoing nightmare..at one point I even thought I was possessed by the devil(Remember..I was in Catholic school, lol!)
To be continued...(tired right now)..but if this will help even 1 kid out there going through this..OMG, it's worth it!!!
So I will keep on with my story...LOVE, Moon
Somehow I survived the drugs and alcohol (I assume my real Dad didn't know about), but I got married at 16 and divorced at 19. Then went crazy with men. I didn't understand that I could say 'no', and I had a terrible need to be loved by a man, so it led me down a path of destruction. I was raped, conned, lived in my car, had 5 abortions, and was contemplating suicide, after being choked by an abusively insane boyfriend. I called a hot line and got some help. I started to learn from my counselor my 'rights' as a human being. By the time I was 21 I was so sick of the bar scene, I decided to quit smoking, using drugs, drinking, and got an actual boyfriend. :) We were together for 2 years, at the end of which I got pregnant. I decided to keep the baby and gave birth to my sweet daughter (who is now 26). She was the best thing that happened to me. I took parenting seriously, even though I was a single Mom on welfare.
I got into the 'New Age' movement as I was searching for more meaning in life. I was disgusted by religion as it seemed to me just a way to control the masses through fear and guilt. One day when my daughter was about 11 months old, I was sitting on my bed by myself and asked Christ to be lord of my life. One of the New Age teachers I listened to on tape said something that prompted me to do this. At that moment, something supernatural happened to me. I knew something had changed in me, and from that moment on I began to change...inside. I had never been to church and didn't even see the connection. All I knew was I wanted to be like Jesus. I began to feel a love and joy that I had never felt before. I didn't really know what had happened at the time. Many years later I realized this was a 'salvation experience' and that Jesus will meet us anywhere we are at.
My first daughter was 3 years old when I sold my only possession( which was my car), for 1/2 the down payment on some land (5 acres) with a well. My mom and I had reconnected (she was single now), and we wanted to build our own places. So that is what we did. We lived in a tent, got library books on building, and started our first building which I now live in today. Five years later I had my second daughter (different boyfriend). My second beautiful daughter was born in this house (more like a cabin), she is 20 now. My daughters are, and have been, an incredible blessing in my life.
It wasn't until 7 years after my experience with Jesus, that I stepped foot into a church building. Someone gave me a NIV bible, and I began to devoured the words. It was as if they jumped off the pages into my heart. For the first time I had some guidelines to live by. I understood that these were not 'rules' to be forced on me to follow, but loving guidance to help me live life to the fullest. The religious words that I had so despised, all of a sudden, I began to understand a deeper meaning. I loved the music and as the words of the songs sunk into my heart, I began to have more faith, joy and love than I ever knew were possible. I kept hearing Jesus say, "It's time for the body of Christ to come together."
I did marry again in 1995. I met him at church. I thought if I married a Christian that everything would work out, and we could overcome any obstacle in our marriage. We had the dream wedding, but about a month after we were married he turned away from God, and became emotionally abusive, and sometimes physically. He did turn back to God, only to slide back again and again. We went through years of counseling but separated in 2000 after the hardest 5 years of my life. Something in my body changed during that time. I began to have panic attacks and the stress of feeling like I was always 'walking on egg shells' began to take its toll on me, emotionally and physically. I started taking anti-depressants so I could cope with life. They did help a lot at first. We got back together for a few months after he had had more counseling, but he began the same things again, so I told God I would rather stay single the rest of my life, and save my children, than stay married to him. So I divorced him, and we began the slow process of healing. I continued to take the anti-depressants for 6 years, but after a while they seemed not to work as well.
I had never had a full time job in my life at this point, but in 2000 when I first separated from my ex-husband, I got a job at a bank as file assistant for the accounting department. God blessed me with incredible favor and knowledge. In six years I was promoted 4 times and by the time the bank was bought out, I was 'Assistant Vice President and Finance Officer' at the bank. I had no college degree, in fact I had dropped out of high school in the 10th grade and only had a GED. But God gave me incredible knowledge and favor. If I didn't know how to do something, I would pray and ask God to show me, and in a few minutes I would get an idea and figure it out. I was in charge of moving millions of dollars of the banks money, everyday between investment accounts. I really gained confidence in God, and in myself during this time. When the bank was sold, our department was going away, but we all got large stock options paid out, and I was offered 9 months severance pay, if I would stay on long enough to help the new bank convert their systems. They used a software that I had become very good at using. In fact on my last day, I received a job offer as a Controller and Office manger for the software company that the bank used. I still work there today.
The stock options allowed me to buy a nice home and take a trip to Paris with my youngest daughter. My oldest daughter was in college by then. The only negative thing during this period was fighting depression and anxiety. The anti-depressants made it possible for me to keep going to work everyday, but as they began to not work as well, it was very hard to get up and go to work. The drive to work was a battle and I sometimes would think of driving my car under a semi truck just to get out of it (once I would get to work I would be fine). This scared me, so I went to get some counseling. I discovered RTF (Restoring the Foundations) again, and went through an Issue Focused Ministry session that helped me immensely. I went off anti-depressants, and began to eat more healthy. I still struggled off and on, but not like before.
Both my daughters are very smart, they love God, and they both graduated from high school early. My oldest daughter went to Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, OK when she was just 17, after a year at a community college. She had wanted to become a teacher ever since she was in 3rd grade, so that is exactly what she did. She was married two days after she graduated from college to a boy who also had graduated early and whom she had met when she was 15 in drivers ed class.
She taught in a public school in Tulsa for 5 years, has two sons, and now is a stay at home mom living in Little Rock, AR. Her husband went on to get his masters degree and is now a Lead over an Apple store in AR. My youngest daughter went to two years of college, but then decided to work for a while until she figures out what she really wants to do. She lives on her own in a nice apartment in Kirkland, WA and works at a Christian collage as an office assistant.
I have been single now for 11 years. I am used to it now, but it was very difficult when my youngest daughter moved out and I didn't know what to do with my life. I really am not the 'career woman' type and so after working two jobs for about 4 years, I quit one of my jobs, sold my house, and moved back to the little cabin I had biult. My mother still lives on the property, but in her own house that she built many years ago. I had rented this cabin out for almost 15 years, so it was pretty run down. I started coming down on weekends and remodeling it. I put in new hardwood floors, cabinets etc. I have been back here almost 2 years now (April 15th), and love it out here in the woods.
My life is slow now, and I work mostly from home. I have two miniature schnauzers that I adore. The last two years has really been a healing time for me and a time to get closer to God. I have gone through more RTF sessions and some training to help others. I rarely feel depressed anymore. It is also good to be close to my Mom, who is now 77. She has hardly been sick a day in her life, and is still very active.
God keeps telling me to 'rest in His presence' so that is what I have endevoured to do since I moved back here. I know He is preparing me for something good. As I get more of a vision for the future, I get excited about it. I am excited to see His kingdom manifest on earth, as even with all the 'bad stuff' going on in the world, I know that there is more good. I know that Jesus wins the battle and peace, joy and love remain.
But, I'm dealing with it and I am still riding high from completing my first 5K race. I am too STRONG!!! I say this because in the past two years I have had some health issues that have caused me to be in pain at one point all day long but I got through it. While having said issues I also went through a divorce and finished my Master's Degree. So, when ever I think about the trials and tribulations that come up. I just think to myself that I am too strong to let myself faulter. I can keep getting knocked down but I will still get up and smile and start the next round.
The nurse & I started it by my having my blood pressure taken, temp., et cetear. We had sweets, coffee, water, crackers with cheeses...it went better than I ever expected for these dear people.
Well, turns out, when it was all over and the RN & I were talking, she told me that my B/P was stroke level. Holy smokes! I was always active, ALWAYS! I had 2 emergency operations but they were gallbladder and appendixs....no big deal, right?
Yeah, well, turns out it was a big deal.
I'm starting to tell my story, but I have to take breaks. Please forgive me for doing it this way, but I cannot sit for more than 20 minutes at a time. I'm better than I was - it used to be 10 > 15 mins/tops!
Talk with you soon, Thanks.
By the way, after reading your stories, I am humbled. You all are fantastic examples of what the True Human Spirit is about...thanks for sharing....Franciann
I jumped through all kinds of hoops to get into "the system." It took awhile, but I found hope with Medicare and Medicaid. See four days after I'd seen the doctor, I lost my job! Talk about timing, right?! Oh well, the doctor and I worked togethere and we got things under control with medications. I got a physical and psychological therapy.
But, then, out of the blue, I'd go out to get some creamer for coffee, or cigarettes, or whatever, and three days later I awoke in a hospital. This happened twice. The tests I needed were all of a sudden unavailable to me. The doctor and the clinic and limitations on what they could do.
I went back to my former doctor, MY DOCTOR ERIC, an Internist at one of the best hospitals in the mid-West.......and, it happened to me a third time, but I had walked into the hospital. I'd gone around and got together all the medical reports from the other two hospitals and gave it to my Doctor Eric and our hospital.
They asked the same questions, did the same in-hospital tests, and I received my diagnosis from my new Endocrinologist, Dr. Gracia W.; the diagnosis? I have Addison's Disease. Okay. That's what President John F. Kennedy had(for a long time, it was the best kept/not secret of his life). Addison's Disease is rare. One in 25 to 35 in a million~what odds, huh?!
to be cont'd....I have to get up early to go to a new food pantry that has a mobile unit that distributes fresh produce on Mondays. It's important to have this in my DM diet plan.
Have sweet dreams 'til I get back on?! Good night.
I haven't even started with the molestation and torture by my first cousin(female) and my mother said: "stay away from her."
We must be self-proactive in ALL AREAS of our lives ... The only one we can trult TRUST completely in this life is GOD & even then we need to be vigilant that we are following His direction & not our OWN!
I can give you 3 examples of times that I mistakingly put ALL of my trust in my drs foolishly. These were times involving my pregnancies of which I had 8. ( I have 5 children carried full term.)
Here are the 3 examples:
(1) I was 8 1/2 mos pregnant with my fourth pregnancy having miscarried in my early months with my first one ( 2 live births in between )I was watching a neighbor's dog in my home who was known for running away.
The dog noticed the scrren door had become unhooked. What followed was a race for the door.The dog won & I did a belly-smacker onto a concrete porch slab!
Worried about my baby due in 2 weeks, I went to see the Dr. He said he was going to induce the delivery in 2 days bec he was going away on vacation & didn't want anything to happen to the baby & since I was dialated 2 centimeters, it would be OK. But it wasn't...
My son had not yet turned upside down into delivery position but the Dr. induced the labor anyways. I had always been taught to "do as the Dr. tells me" so I naively trusted him! My poor son was pushed down my birth canal manually. After he was out, they put him up on my chest to hold. What i beheld was a blue, cyanotic baby!
His mouth and throat had filled up with all sorts of membrane & birth fluids. They grabbed him back & aspirated him, took him away & said they needed to 'clean him up'.
( In addition, I required some surgery and lots of stitching to fix me up from a Breech Delivery !)
When I saw him later, His head was all distorted, caved in in places, ad misshapened. the doctor said bec it was soft skull, it would resume a normal shape. It took 3 days for it to happen. The day we were sent home.
My son ended up with ADHD & learning disabilities that I believe the deprivation of oxygen. It still makes me sick to my stomach that I so trusted the Dr. I blamed myself alone for chasing the dog for what happened to my son that would go on to affect the rest of his life!
(2) I was 6 mos pregnant, having had suffered 1 previous miscarriage, contacted my obstretician when my whole family took sick with the flu. At that time, I had 3 children ages, 2,4, & 5 yrs plus my exhusband. All were ill with diarrhea & vomiting. It was all I could do with trying to keep them & their beds all clean.
They would throw up. I would clean their vomit up, gagging the whole time, & then go throw up myself...
I called my Dr I told him that I couldn't keep my food down & was worried that the child that I was pregnant with wouldn't make it. He said not to worry the baby would be fine. Not true, I started hemorrhaging a week later. The baby died inside me & I had to have an induced delivery! I should have been put on some sort of supplement or IV's !
But, I had no one to advise me as my mother had passed on 3 weeks before my first child was born. And, my husband's mother had passed several years before that. I had never met her.
I went into shock from so much blood loss and upon coming home was in a dumb-founded state of mind... It was months before I was fully recovered mentally from all of that... To this day, I still don't know what became of my fetus or even what gender the baby was. it was never buried - I don't know WHAT had become of it!
(3) With the birth of my seventh pregnancy, my fifth child, I had insisted on a Caesarian as I didn't want the same awful results that took place with my son being born breech. My Dr. a third-world Fellowship Dr., who had taken his qualification exam in this country ended up performing my delivery. My daughter's foot was stuck behind my pubic bone. I decided on an emergency C-Section.
Also, everytime I had asked him to explain anything to me, he indicated that he "didn't feel I would understand" and so he didn't even try ! ( I had started with his partner who had been reccomended to me by a friend. Unfortunately, the "luck of the draw", I got the wrong Dr. for the delivery as the other one had gone on vacation!
He had talked about "turning her in the womb". I had heard that before, the last time & had eventually dropped that other Dr., and wanted no parts of it! I felt it was better that I suffer a harder, longer healing period than to have another child endure that same kind of suffering and possible birth defects!
When we discussed the surgery, he had told me about this "little bikini-cut" he was going to perform ! Well, Y'All's, I ended up with a "smiley-face" AND adhesions!!
Now, THAT was just a few of my awful doctor experiences.. More to come in the future... My generation had been taught that doctors were like gods that could do no wrong!
It AIN'T So !!!

Now, you Good Neighbors tell me that you are glad I found God ... - That is true. I became aware of his living presence in my realm when I was 36 yrs old - 32 yrs ago! But to make a long story short - I'll only tell you what happened to me recently... I couldn't walk under my own power a few years back bec of injuries sustained in my stroke ...
3 1/2 yrs ago,a priest, Father Luisi, came to my apt to anoint mw with healing oil, lay hands on me, & pray for a healing. I had allowed a Catholic friend to bring him bec she was so concerned for me and I wanted to please her.
He anointed mt forehead with oil, laid a hand on my head & began to pray for me in tongues! Thios Pentecostal Protestant lit up with fire - I had operated in the hOly Spirit since 6 days after I was "saved"! ( At midnight no less - on Dec 31 - Jan 1 1980. )
At that time, I had suffered a stroke & was paralyzed on my right side for 8 hrs. And, having fallen out of bed just after onto a concrete floor I had herniated a disk as well. The stroke left me very dazed, weakened & unable to function on m,y own.
I had to have a care giver to feed me, bathe me, clothe me, feed me, bathe me, and clean for me. I could barely pick up my foot to get dressed, let alone put on my own shoe! And, I had to literally live in as recliner bec I couldn't straighten out my legs to get into bed!
After Father Luisi's visit, I continued to heal at a an abnormal pace. I subsequently attended other healing masses & am still healing today since having 6 surgeries in 2 1/2 years beginning in October 2011 ( 2 different herniated disk operations, a breast lumpectomy,leg- vein stripping, esophageal hernia-repair, and gastric by pss surgery.).
I am still being healed from 5 aneurysms in my brain, hence the screen name: notdeadyet005. But I thank God also for my suffering which brings me that much closer to Jesus. Anytime something happens, be it grave or glorious, I simply say, "Thy will be done, Lord God" for we do not know His plan but He definitely has one for you also - Just ask!
After being influenced by the Mass & learning more about Catholicsm, I enrolled in the R.C.I.A. classes ( Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults) to learn more about this Christ alive living in me! I converted to Catholicsm on April 7, 2012. Photo Gallery: Confirmation 4/7/1 http://www.dailystrength.org/people/545855/photos-videos

Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine!
Oh, what a foretaste of glory divine!
Heir of salvation, purchase of God,
Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood.
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior all the day long;
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior all the day long.
Perfect submission, perfect delight,
Visions of rapture now burst on my sight;
Angels descending bring from above,
Echoes of mercy, whispers of love.
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior all the day long;
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior all the day long.
Perfect submission, all is at rest,
I in my Savior am happy and blest;
Watching and waiting, looking above,
Filled with His goodness lost in His love.
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior all the day long;
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior all the day long.

This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior all the day long.
Perfect submission, all is at rest,
I in my Savior am happy and blest;
Watching and waiting, looking above,
Filled with His goodness lost in His love.
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior all the day long;
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior all the day long.
(He gave me back my life ~ Now I have given it to Him! )
