A quote from one of our happy Over The Fence members: "Hi JS- Thank you for the welcome message. Do you remember that show Home Improvement and the neighbor Wilson Wilson Jr. who would meet Tim the Tool Man at the fence, but never showed anything but his eyes? He was so funny. This group reminds me of those encounters... you get the wisdom, humor, and support from your DS...

( My UTI is back & raging.. This time the problem is I am having difficulty getting the insurance co to pay for the meds i need to take... I have allergic reactions to the accepted meds and need something "a wee bit off the beaten path"! (Of course ! I AM special or didn't ya hear??) LOL!
It is so good to hear from you. Y'All's are such an encourager for me! I do SO care for you! Yes, it is discouraging to have to argue to get the ONLY meds that the UTI is resistant to which I am not allergic. So, what else is NEW??!! LOL!
Also, I am the midst of trying to hire a few new care givers for myself & a friend who is seriously ill. I have a care giver 6 hrs a day, 7 days a week because of a private fiscal grant that funds a public program with which I have been blessed. I am recovering from calcification in the center of my spine, osteo-arthritis in my right hand, generalized weakness on my right side from the stroke, and other maladies that prevent me from performing simple tasks I used to take for granted.
(The 5 aneurysms I have in my brain are another cause for the attendence presence as well. not to mention the Transient Ischemic Attacks I experience as a direct result with the genralized Urinary Tract Infections !!)
But, through the grace of God and prayers of many, I have come so far. Just 3.5 years ago, I lived in a recliner unable to straighten my legs to lie down in my bed and I traveled in a wheel chair. I managed to get about my apt. with a walker to fend for myself when left alone. But, I couldn't bathe myself or get dressed without help. That is, until later in my life ...
And, even though I was a former chef- during that time, I ate "Meals On Wheels" and spent many hours alone in my apartment. I live in a Senior Highrise, however, I have few friends here as I have always been involved outside of the building and had little involvement within.
It really wasn't until one of my children gave me their old computer that I "had a life." again and I "left" mt apartment through my computer! My life literally took off after joining DS which I had discovered by accident while researching "support groups."
(I have had a very rich life -NO money but Lots of LIFE!!) LOL!
As I soared through it, I often couldn't understand why God allowed so much "stuff” to happen ( Besides my own stupidity!). I learned that ‘my lot in life’ was a matter quite often because of my own decisions made - bad or good! But the stuff beyond my control especially the good, plus the good outcomes, I believe, was a helpful measure from God that has allowed me to be helpful to others as I minister to the needs of so many here on Over The Fence Neighborhood & other groups I belong to here on DS..
To TALK about some negtive experiences such as chronic illness/pain, joblessness, poverty, heartbreak, estrangement from family, physical / mental abuse, rape, clinical depression & it’s outcomes/side effects, homelessness (on the sidewalk not sheltered), separation & divorce, disability, retirement, facing death, and so many other experiences too numerous to mention... is one thing BUT to have gone through them personally first-hand ia another! All of this has helped me to truly understand some of the perils that Y’All’s has faced as well.
Then again, some of the positive events in my life also help me to identify with you Good Neighbors... Now, going back to school ( at 50 ), getting my degrees were certain struggles but. finishing at 59 as a full-time student was a positive reinforcing achievement that helprd me to regain some sorely needed self-worth.!
More importantly, the realization that God IS in control and that I do have a recourse to sound alternatives in life. Also, by following The Holy Spirit learning “life-lessons” as well by researching “WHAT can I do differently?” or doing, reasonably, whatever it takes to rise above the difficulty.
I became a Christian 32 yrs ago. I had been following the Holy Sprit when I “fell off course” or was distracted & was just not listening as off-times happens in a presumably Spirit-filled Life. (Some of Y'All's know this one first-hand. Right?!! )
When that happens, God is & has been THERE all that time ! Also, He has others existing who are full of love & concern for me to offer their prayers & good wishes such as here on OTFN & other DS groups I belong to... ( He works through all who will let Him !)
I am so glad that God is so much more faithful TO ME than I am to Him! There are LOTS of footprints evident when He was carrying me through my “Sands of Time!” LOL! ( And, I am sure there are many of you who can relate to that!)
That is why I made this thread - I also care for Y-O-U & would like to hear your story if you are willing to share it with myself through private message or, even better, to encourage both the interest, good wishes, or prayers from others, add your “story” to mine posting right here on “Reply” below !
(Again, thanks os much for all the great HUGS & well wishes as well as personal messages I just haven’t been able to respond to ...)
Share YOUR story HERE so others will know they are NOT alone... Just like I always thought I was one of the "few estranged parents" around until I found Daily Strength Support Groups. But more about that later ...
Go ahead now, share some of your story & keep adding to it as The Spirit moves Y-O-U ... Reply below!

Glad to see your story! You are an amazing woman. Such an inspiration. God has given you a gift and has shown you one way to share His Love. Thank you.
I have been dealing with a respiratory infection and off work and off DS due to the need to rest. Well, I rested so well that I forgot to take medication for my "normal" problems. Ha ha! Put me on a downward slide to depression, anxiety, and the respiratory infection did not go away. Am now taking antibiotics, steroids, and my regular meds as prescribed. Feeling better. Will be able to return to work later this week. Will be back on DS more too. Of course, I will be happy to share more of my life story when I am able to put my thoughts down.
Love to all,
marciainak
MY STORY IS MY HUSBAND AND I MOVED OUT OF A BIG CITY TO A SMALL VILLAGE. I NEVER WANTED TO LEAVE THE CITY BECAUSE WE WERE ONLY 10 MINUTES FROM THE HOSPITSAL WHERE MY HUSBAND GOT HIS TREATMENTS. EVEN BY AMBULANCE IT DIDN'T TAKE LONG TO GET TO OUR HOUSE. THEY WOULD SEND RESCUE TO START THINGS UNTIL THE AMBULABCE GOT THERE. OUT IN THE COUNTRY IT TOOK LONGER. WE LIVE OUTSIDE OF A VILLAGE NOW.
ANYWAY, OUR SON HAD OUR GRANDSON AND THIS IS WHERE THEY LIVE. I WOULD ALSO BABYSIT AND IT WAS A DRIVE.
WE WENT TO VISIT THEM. THERE WAS A SIGN ON THE DOOR APARTMENT FOR RENT. IT WAS THEIR APARTMENT. MY HUSBAND KNEW I WOULDN'T MOVE OUT OF THE CITY. HE JUST JOKING SAID LET'S MOVE OUT HERE. I DIDN'T WANT TO BUT WHILE WE WEREVISITING OUR SON AND HIS FAMILY WE TALKED ABOUT. HE GOT HIS LANDLADY ON THE PHONE. WE TALKED TO HER AND WE ENDED UP GIVING HER A DEPOSIT. NOWV WE HAD TO GO HOME AND GIVE OUR LANDLORD OUR NOTICE. WE WERE MONTH TO MONTH. SO WHEN WE GOT PAID WE GAVE HIM HIS RENT AND OUR NOTICE. WE DIDN'T PAY A SECURITY SO WE HAD TO OUR MONTHS RENT.
HE WASN'T HAPPY ABOUT IT. HE KEPT COMING OVER AND SAYING YOU'RE NOT REALLY GOING, ARE YOU? WE TOLD HIM WE WERE SERIOUS. WE MADE ARRANGEMENTS TO MOVE ON A SUNDAY. WE GAVE OUR NOTICE ON WEDNESDAY. AND OUR SON WAS MOVING OUT ON SATURDAY SO WE WERE GOING TO MOVE OUT HERE SLOWLY. WE WERE GETTING A FREE MONTHS RENT BECAUSE WE TOOK OVER AS THEY MOVED OUT. WE HAD PLANS TO MOVE SOMETHINGS OUT SATURDAY. WE HAD THE HELP AND A TRUCK SO MY HUSBAND JUST DECIDED TO MOVE OUT THEIR ON THE FIRST. LESS THEN ONE WEEK AFTER WE DECIDED TO MOVE WE WERE OUT HERE. WE LIVED IN THE VILLAGE THEN. WE HAD A KITTEN SO WE HAD TO PAY FOR HIM AND BECAUSE WE MOVED EARLY IN EARLY WE PAID AN EXTRA $50 AND $300 ROR THE CAT. WE PAID SO MUCH A MONTH. ON MAY 1, 2004 WE MOVED IN. (TO BE CONTINUED).
This is where I am at now-from my latest journal
Saw a doctor for SSI determination on Saturday, June 2, 2012
I had to go see a doctor today for an evaluation for SSI. The doctor came from Denver and I had to go to a chiropractors office to see him. He wanted to know more about my physical concerns, about the chronic stomach pain I had for many years, about my 3 ER visits in late 2010 and early 2011 when I had severe stomach pain and dehydration. I told him the pain was gone and I was eating better-though I still have to work on that. Told him that I was on Remeron-which besides used for anxiety/depression, it is used for stomach issues/nausea/etc, I have learned. And that is why the psych hospital put me on it, that's what the docs there said. He examined my stomach- it WAS tender in the spot where it had hurt for years.
I had to walk across the room, on my tip toes and heels, had to touch my nose with my hand, look up-look down, move all around. Do the hokey pokey..KIDDING!
I had to do that memory thing where I had to count backwards from 100 by 7. The doctor told me three things that he said he would ask later in the conversation. Later he asked and I forgot the first of the three things! I remembered the second two.
He asked about my history of stomach pain, and about any other physical complaints or concerns I may have. I told him about going to the hospital when I was 15 for severe stomach pain and they ran tests and told me it was a "pre" ulcer, that is all they said as far as I can recall, and my mom does not remember either and the doctor and hospital I went to are no longer in practice.
I mentioned my feet, how I have been limping and about my foot swelling up last summer, and about the side of my hip aching at night, and that I have noticed for years that when I lift my left leg it feels like it is "out of place"
The doctor said he was not there to diagnose or determine anything, that he would make a report of our visit and give it to the SSI determination team.
My SSI/Liaison caseworker at work told me about the appt on Thursday, and she wondered why they want to know about my physical, because it is Anxiety that is my main reason I applied for SSI
She called her contact at SSI and they said that they just wanted it that's why.....
OK
I did go and now a report will be made and sent and now again I wait.
In the past few weeks the SSI determination team also wanted to know more about my jaw surgery in 1979, and about the speech therapy I had.
A year ago, I had a very bad fall that resulted in severe injuries. The doctors didn't believe I had injuries, however, because I also happened to have endometriosis, and the assumed my pain came just from that. As a result, my injuries went untreated, and it was five months before anyone did anything that really helped. I still don't know why I survived. Even the doctors weren't sure at times, and more than once wanted to admit me to a hospital just for pain, but the HMO doesn't allow that. Anyway, I have slowly gotten better, with many setbacks along the way.
I have spent too much time blaming myself for the choices that led to my fall, one of which was taking a new medication. I spent months thinking that if I had not taken it, this wouldn't have happened, and I would still be able to lead my old normal life.
my new normal is a fraction of the old. I have pain constantly in my lower spine and pelvis; a very negative therapy experience has left me unable to use my hands; a few weeks ago, my poor overstressed knees finally gave up, and I am once again having way too much trouble simply going upstairs to use the bathroom. I cannot work, or engage in hobbies that used to help me keep going, and where I was once extremely active, I am basically now bedridden. I have no idea what my future might hold, but hope seems not to be in it. This is not a lapse of faith in God, but the result of so many negative experiences with the medical establishment, more so than even anyone here might reasonably expect having experience with chronic problems. I have tried very hard to adapt, but with the loss of the use of my hands, I have nothing to do all day but lie here and hurt. I used dictation software to come on the Internet, but it frequently makes mistakes, and there is only so much Internet you can surf.
This past weekend, on the first anniversary of my injury, I suddenly realized that maybe this is really as good as my wife will ever get again.I may never recover the use of my hands, and be able to simply make supper or so a button on a shirt. I may never again simply go to a grocery store. Because I have epilepsy, the only pain med I am allowed is a single Vicodin a day at bedtime so I can sleep a little. I have taught myself to hyperventilate into passing out the pain is bad because that is the only relief I get. I feel as if even the good doctors I have encountered are really giving up on my ever getting well, because I simply haven't followed the textbook. It's like the five months I spent begging them to understand I had an injury don't count, yet they are the reason my body was so desperately traumatized.it is not that I can't keep going, it's that I don't see a reason to. If I could even have my hands backso I could paint and so my paintings again, make supper, do a jigsaw puzzle, be able to hold a book so I could read... But I just don't know.
Maybe I am not very strong after all.
the friends I thought I had turned out not to be. My old friends from back home would do anything for me if they weren't hundreds or thousands of miles away, but people I thought were friends who live only a couple blocks away disappeared like smoke, couldn't even answer e-mails. Only on daily strength do I feel completely understood.
even when I go to therapy at the pool, there is no understanding. Most of the people there are either recovering from a straightforward sports injury, and see me as this flabby out of shape middle-aged woman deserving only of their content, or they are elderly and think I'm too young to really have problems.
I am sorry for not being more positive. I always thought I would be well by this point, or at least a lot closer to it, but for three months I have not been able to use my hands and to have my usefulness completely takenis devastating. I see the hand surgeon tomorrow to find out if anything can be done, so maybe I'm just weak to give up hope, but very hope I've had for a year was disappointed, and even the doctors who could help me won'ttell me if I even can get well, and the only Doctor to tell me I can get wellhas not told me that for a very long time now. He keeps evading me when I ask.
So that is my story right now. I am sorry for the typos and errors. It is so hard to dictate even with good software, and I am upset, so my diction is very bad.
Obviously, research hopefully leads to solutions. Mine did and now I know what needs to be done to give our bodies what they need to repair cellular damage that causes nearly all disease. Pharmaceutical companies do the same thing...they research and then come up with drug solutions.
Unfortunately, I cannot share my conclusions with you here, as it would be considered promoting a solution. But if you go to the blog and want more information I would be happy to talk with you further through email, phone, or skype.
This is my life's passion. This is what I do. Greg
well I will try and share a few fragments of my life,
I was born in Southern Ireland on a very cold January day,my Mother came home from work and I arrived
in this world on a cold kitchen floor, one of the neighbours called around and" tidied " things up,it seems I was on the floor for a while before anybody realised. Some time later the lady who found us,gave me a little toy dog,
it made the rounds of the extended family for years,I finally got it back about a year ago.it sits by the lounge window now,one of the lady,s from church kindly repaired it for me.
I am told my Father drank alot and was nasty to my Mother and sisters,He walked out when I was about
five years old.
I was sent to a convent school, boys and girls went,we were kept apart.in those days the nuns wore black
traditional habits,we were beaten many times with sticks and straps!!
if you kept getting the answers wrong the boys were dressed as girls complete with hair ribbons!!
I had a problem with sums( I still have) so I was punished many times.maybe thats where my anxiety
comes from.the maths class constantly filled me with fear.nobody understood. back soon
